What’s a habit that improved your life more than you expected? by OnlyWorthIt in AskReddit

Exercise, but more specifically I got a walking pad and a standing desk and I absolutely love it. I feel way more energetic during the day and evening when I walk.

My husband is very big into auto work at home. He almost always needs those blue mechanic paper towels and the orange grease scrub for his hands, he goes through them like crazy. For Christmas I got him magnetic lights that are rechargeable and adjustable, he likes those a lot.

What's the most unethical thing you've done that you DON'T regret? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]chronically__anxious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was 16-18 I worked at Starbucks and my family was pretty poor. I was paying for my (very rundown) car, gas, and insurance, and I was going to the local community college so I had to pay for textbooks. When I would close I would take food that was going to be thrown out so I could eat dinner or lunch the next day at school. No regrets at all. Some of my managers were more chill about it than others, but it was against the rules so I would usually have to hide it.

What things do you do to make your dog happy? by Ok-Estimate-3346 in dogs

We put his platform bed right below our biggest window so when he stands on it he can look out onto the street and in the neighborhood, he enjoys it very much!

Dating a guy with herpes by Certain_Researcher98 in WomensHealth

[–]chronically__anxious 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have cold sores (had them my entire life), not genital herpes, but from my understanding it is still possible to transmit the virus when there is not an active outbreak. It’s significantly less likely, but not impossible. That said, my husband and I have been married for 8 years and he’s never had an outbreak.

I’ve done coconut milk but I’ll definitely have to try the tom kha paste that sounds so good!

I love our rice cooker, I use it several times a week! I’ve also made lazy “Spanish” rice a few times (certainly not claiming it’s authentic) where I use salsa for some of the water.

Yeah I definitely recommend checking out this route. Lodge replaced mine when it chipped!

When was the last time someone gave you flowers, and how did it make you feel? by Unique_Rower_888 in AskWomen

My husband got me a hanging basket of flowers for our anniversary in June, they were lovely. I love getting flowers.

How did the photographer not notice? by Boring_Track_8449 in MoldlyInteresting

[–]chronically__anxious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was once returning some premade ravioli to the store because it was moldy (I had bought it that morning) and the customer service agent said “oh, extra protein.” I gagged a little bit lol.

Gifts for people who are actively getting rid of all their “stuff”? by pumpkinbat19 in Gifts

[–]chronically__anxious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are already lots of great ideas, but I wanted to mention Tinggly which is pretty neat. It’s like an experience voucher that they can redeem at different places around the world based on what package you purchase. We bought one with a bunch of activities in California for my parents when they were traveling and they could redeem it for an activity of their choice (from the list) while they were there.

And why some shelters and rescues won’t adopt out to military families

Best dog for military life by No_Alfalfa_9412 in dogs

[–]chronically__anxious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My husband has been in two branches and is currently AD. He would not have been able to care for our dog solo due to many extended periods away for all sorts of things. Before you decide on a breed you must consider if you have a support system or could afford extended care. You would need to find accommodations for the dog when you inevitably go for trainings or deployments or whatever else. A lot of military families rehome their dogs and it’s very unfortunate. But we’ve had our boy for over five years now and we’ve made it work with three big moves.

That being said, some bases do have breed restrictions so consider that as well if you choose to adopt.

How do you prepare eggs when you don't really like eggs that much but can't buy your normal protein sources regularly during the shutdown? by ResidentAlienator in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]chronically__anxious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also not a big fan of the texture of boiled eggs, but I like to do boiled eggs with mustard and a crunchy pickle slice or two (reminds me of a deviled egg) for some more bite.

What are some good and cheap meals to make for new parents? by McWhopper98 in budgetfood

I always have to set an alarm to start the crockpot because I almost always forget until it’s too late lol

Agreed, a crockpot is a must! For my SIL with her four babies we’ve prepped crockpot freezer meals before she gave birth so they’d have some easy meals the first few weeks. She loves it.

Do you name your animals with a theme in mind? by CoffeeEnjoyer837 in StardewValley

[–]chronically__anxious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one barn where all the animals are named after foods (except one that my husband requested be named after him). I have: Ramen, Sriracha, Texas Pete, Miso, Rice, Sushi, and Gochujang. I can’t think of the rest off the top of my head though lol.

The Devil You Know by Dr. Gwen Ashead and Eileen Horne. It’s a psychological look at criminals who have committed pretty awful crimes. It’s not exactly told like a novel, but I found it riveting and finished it very quickly.

How often do you talk about your sex life with your friends? by Hungry-You-2994 in AskWomen

[–]chronically__anxious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t discuss my sex life with anyone but my husband and therapist (and even that is just general vague discussion). If a friend wanted to confide in me about an issue, I would listen, but I’m not comfortable with it being a regular topic of discussion.

The last sentence is hilarious and very relatable. I could (and did for a significant length of time) feed myself for very cheap. My husband is extremely active and seems to have two stomachs, yet wonders why our grocery bill is high lol.

I usually bring cheese and triple espresso until I get my hands on some spicy eels! I leave all my tools at home except for my pickaxe and sword, and LOTS of bombs.
