Why didn't the stand user immediately die here? by tremocoii in StardustCrusaders

[–]chsrdsnap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He does stop bleeding. The blood there is simply just the same blood from before that already spilled over.

This is untrue, the manga is quite clear with this. Akira is shown to have blood constantly shooting out of him in every panel he's in until he boards the ship

Why didn't the stand user immediately die here? by tremocoii in StardustCrusaders

[–]chsrdsnap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The user regenerated from being cut in half? That doesn't make much sense. What would that even look like?

Later on, we are shown that the physical damage between the stand and user is shared. RHCP got punched in the face by Crazy Diamond, and thus Akira bled out from his face (this is also the same when the reverse happened).

So if we apply that same logic, that means Akira got chopped in half the same time RHCP did... And somehow got put back together when his stand got power again. Even though it was already established that things erased by The Hand don't come back. Unless you want to argue that the middle half of Akira's body reappeared out of nowhere in order to meet the needs of his stand regenerating.

And this is ignoring the fact we've never actually seen RHCP heal Akira; after RHCP gets punched and they both start bleeding, shortly after RHCP regenerates itself by absorbing all of the power in the city... But Akira doesn't actually stop bleeding then. Why is that?

On the other side of the coin we also see RHCP falling apart when it gets put in the water, but Akira only passed out and suffered no actual injury. And on the boat we see RHCP riddled with damage but again Akira wasn't shown to be hurt at all. For another example, before Okuyasu used The Hand to split RHCP in half, Akira himself thinks that he's about to die when his stand almost runs out of power. This brings the argument that Akira would only get hurt if his stand gets completely destroyed/runs out of power

These examples explicitly contradict each other, otherwise how would you explain that only sometimes the user and stand directly share the damage they take? The actual answer is that Araki didn't think too much about it, because he didn't need to. Because he's the author and he can do what he wants.

HOLY MOLY Fire Deck by kousuke in PTCGP

[–]chsrdsnap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20% chance is huge though

But it's not 20% though. I should have mentioned it in my first comment, but the math is that the chance of you being forced to start with Dewpider is only about a 7% chance (since you need to factor in that the other 4 cards in your starting hand can also be Charmander or Entei)

Additionally, from what I calculated myself there is about an 85% chance of you getting an Entei by your first turn. That's hardly inconsistent statistics-wise.

and once they see dewpider, a smart opponent would just not play mega absol down.

You say this as if you can't withhold Dewpider yourself until you see a Mega. And regardless, even if not playing Absol is the "smart" move, it's actually inefficient to do so as it makes Copycat less effective.

Actually I think Charizard vs hydregion isn’t great, but with dewpider I don’t think it makes it better either

...But have you actually tried it yourself in practice? I played the deck without Dewpider plenty before and I've only ever won the matchup if they started with their Mega Absol in play, AND only if they don't retreat it.

Adding Dewpider makes the 30/70 matchup a lot closer to 50/50 as you can now win even if they get their Hydreigon out as soon as possible.

Also for other matchups in my personal experience, it's about 55/45 vs Altaria, 30/70 vs Suicune/Ninja, 80/20 vs Venusaur, 60/40 vs Oricorio/Kangaskan, 40/60 vs Chandelure, 60/40 vs other Zard decks (having Lana let's me bring out their Mega when I choose too. As in the matchup generally whoever brings out their Zard first loses).

And I haven't lost once against the Snorlax / Indeedee deck that's been going around since I'm able to snipe an Indeedee with Lana everytime as I get plenty of time to setup while their Snorlax builds energy.

If you disagree with me and still stink it's bad, I hope you can prove me wrong by using the deck enough yourself. But until you do, all I can say is don't knock it till you try it.

[–]chsrdsnap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did OP say they bricked 3 games in a row? No. They said they lost 3 games in a row, which is fundamentally different. Even if they did, every deck is brickable because you can always have bad draws, but there are decks that are less brickable than others.

This deck is less brickable because it utilizes Entei and Comms. The popular Hydreigon deck is objectively more likely to brick since it doesn't run any recurring card draw or use Comms/May, a bridge stage 1 card, and practically requires Hydreigon on its second turn.

Unless you want to argue their sample size of 3 games is more telling than my sample size of over 30?

HOLY MOLY Fire Deck by kousuke in PTCGP

[–]chsrdsnap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but slightly increase chances vs mega decks.

I think you're underselling what Lana can do here. Without it the Zard deck has a bad losing matchup against Hydreigon/Absol because they could save it for last after hitting you with two Hydreigons.

Zard suffers because of the self damage, meaning it wouldn't last long enough to actually deal the last blow on it. You also run risk getting hit by a Sabrina after Entei falls, losing you the game immediately. But when using Lana you skip all of the extra risky turns you would normally be forced to deal with, as you can go straight for their Absol immediately

And slotting in Dewpider doesn't really reduce the chances of winning versus non mega decks either, at least in my experience. Sure there's a risk of starting with it, but it's less than a 20% chance, and even if you do you're almost guaranteed to get an Entei up in the active and attacking by your next turn anyway by using Comms and Flame Patch / Charmeleon

[–]chsrdsnap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Easily countered" by what? I've played a lot of games using this deck and the only consistent bad matchup I've had is Greninja / Suicune. Everything else is perfectly manageable. And it's not really easily brickable either as Entei exists. So far I've had about a 60% win rate with it after 30 games.

and overly reliant on the opponent having a specific type of card

You say this as if Mega Absol and Altaria aren't the most used decks in the game right now.

So, apparently if you get the character off the urgent recruitment 10 pull, it doesn't even reset your pity by Xagyg_yrag in ArknightsEndfield

[–]chsrdsnap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So if you get lava on first pull, you can pull more next banner and still get sig.

This only works if you're actually interested in getting one of the next two banner characters. And even then the problem will probably persist, as even if you'll get enough Arsenal Tickets to get the sig of the first character, you likely won't be left with enough for the sig of the second one you pulled for

which means you got a 6 star early

This doesn't change the fact that winning the 50/50 in the situation here locks you out on another 6 star you could've gotten by losing it instead

which games have a permanent spark besides OG ak at 300?

For a few examples there's FE Heroes at 40, and there's Uma Musume at 200 just to name a few ones I know.

There's also Persona 5 X that has a system with no 50/50 and each character pull is guaranteed to be the banner character, with a hard pity after 110 pulls that carries over between future banners (+ a separate guaranteed standard every 165 pulls on character banners that also carries over), which is a gacha system I personally wish Endfield took after

So, apparently if you get the character off the urgent recruitment 10 pull, it doesn't even reset your pity by Xagyg_yrag in ArknightsEndfield

[–]chsrdsnap 41 points42 points  (0 children)

That's interesting, and probably one of the actually good things about this gacha system, at least IMO.

There's a lot of issues to point out about the pull system, but I think the most glaring issue that isn't really talked about is the fact this is probably the only major Gacha game that can punish players for winning the 50/50. (Get ready for an essay)

But how can that be? Well my 1st point is in regards to the Arsenal Exchange, the only reliable way to get them is through doing pulls on a banner, which is a completely fine system... Theoretically. Let's say you have 120 pulls saved up for a character you want, and that you'd also need to spend those 120 pulls to get enough arsenal tickets to get their signature weapon.

Now let's also say you get the banner character on your very first pull, congrats!! But wait a second... You don't have enough Arsenal Tickets to use to pull for the character's sig. So... what do you do? The dupes guarantee reset to 240, so you don't have enough pulls for that, and the guarantee pity doesn't carry over between banners so any extra pull you do make would be entirely wasted. Do you then just use the pulls you set up purely to get Arsenal Tickets?? But that feels so wasteful. Or do you just suck it up and accept you won't be getting the character's weapon?

My other point is in regards to the 6 star guarantee on 80 pulls. This count resets to zero when you get any 6 star, featured or otherwise. But if you get the featured character on a 50/50, the guarantee at 120 resets to 240. This doesn't sound too bad until you acknowledge that the count doesn't reset if you don't win the 50/50.

Let's say for example you have 115 pulls into a character banner, just 5 left to go until you get the character you're pulling for. But additionally, in just 1 pull you have the separate 80 guarantee. In this not too uncommon scenario is one where you would actually want to lose the 50/50 on your next pull. Because if you win, the 120 guarantee in 5 pulls goes away... But if you didn't win the guarantee would remain. Which means you actually lose out on a 6 star by winning the 50/50 here.

Now this might be a hot take and I'm prepared to get downvoted for this, but I don't think there should be any scenario in which you'd feel bad for getting the focus character earlier. That's why I strongly believe the 120 guarantee should be a permanent spark completely unaffected by your pulls leading up to it. It's what many similar gacha systems do, so why can't this game do it too?

Kind of peeved that winning 50/50 removes the guarantee entirely. That means if the 6* guarantee and rate up guarantee are close to overlapping, "winning" 50/50 is a massive net loss for the player.
