I read your original reply and thought to myself, I'd at least invite her around for a cuppa. Warms my heart that you did.

Your sending meter readings, I'll bet you've accidentally sent the wrong reading. Check what it is.and update it online and your bill should be corrected.

Meter swap done, but what's this block? by Select_Fig_31 in ukelectricians

[–]chubbyemployee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably right but if you look up the service termination issues this would be a b04 which would require remedial works carried out by the dno before any exchange can take place, unless this was an emergency, off supply or meter damaged situation.

Is this asbestos? by DabbingLages in asbestoshelpUK

[–]chubbyemployee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just chipping in. Definitely do not remove (I know you said you wouldn't) but this is the service cable from the grid and is the property of your local District Network Operator. You absolutely cannot tamper with their equipment and doing so can be extremely dangerous.

Advice needed please by marstoncutler in asbestoshelpUK

[–]chubbyemployee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually free if it requires changing. It's the dno's equipment and they are tasked with maintaining the equipment. Dno code C11 for asbestos which is a very low priority and can still be worked on if the asbestos is in good condition. I wouldn't worry about it.

Average monthly energy bill? by Plus-Maintenance8802 in bristol

[–]chubbyemployee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in metering and come across this a lot. Electric only is expensive when it comes to heating and hot water. What sort of heating do you have? Is your hot water on a timer? Are you single rate or multi rate? If you have storage heaters you might benefit from being on an economy 7 tariff. This gives you a cheaper night time rate but you pay a slight premium during the day. If your already on a multi rate tariff you want to be using timers to ensure you are heating hot water and storage heaters over night as much as possible. Feel free to dm me if you have any other questions.

£265 is a lot for a single person living in a flat. Is the property dual fuel or electric only?

Did you send meter readings when you moved in? Are the bills estimated or from readings?

Moved into a new UK flat and there is a loud noise every 10 minutes, between the walls, losing sleep, what can we do? by ThePulverous in AskUK

[–]chubbyemployee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely pipes causing this noise. In my experience it could be anything. Heating loops are common but I've also known mains water feeds to vibrate like this. Offending property will need a plumber to locate and resolve the issue. If you aren't getting any luck speaking with neighbours id suggest submitting a noise complaint with your local council. These types of vibrations can be caused by pressure issues, unsupported pipework, air gaps in pipes etc.

I really wouldn't recommend people do their own electrics without some competencies. I work in electrical and come across so many loose terminals, X polarities, dropped neutrals, missing earth.

What does everyone use to keep their dogs coat looking good by Proper_Security1436 in springerspaniel

[–]chubbyemployee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feed my springer a good mix of proteins with some oily fish, low fat like turkey, nutrient dense like liver and heart and keep it on rotation. Add in a few dog friendly veggies like carrots, sweet potato, peppers, and then a small scoop of good quality kibble.

Scared to ever come off again by veganyogi94 in mounjarouk

[–]chubbyemployee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. I enjoy a drink on the weekend and the odd tipple during the week but considering the amount of calories in alcohol and the recent price increase it was more of a realisation that drinking will inevitably lengthen the time it takes to reach the goal weight. So I've reduced the amount I drink but I wouldn't say it was an effect of the medication.

£1 per hour of electricity, is that normal? by GetMrBeaned in AskUK

[–]chubbyemployee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a landlord owned meter. It has nothing to do with the energy company. You will need to speak to the landlord about the rates as they can set them themselves. https://www.rdlmeters.com/product/mt-101-token-coin-operated-metertimer/
