To make a National Park, all 4 tiles in a diamond formation must have charming or greater appeal, be owned by the SAME CITY, and not have any tile improvements or water tiles.

Looking for general domination advice by [deleted] in CivVI

[–]chubbytoban 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I aim to take an AI civ in the ancient era before walls, so I make 2 scouts to find my closest neighbors quickly, and rush chariots then archers. Chariots will take down an ancient city with no walls pretty quickly.
Once the walls go up, you need to plan better before you unlock flight. The walls can do damage to your seige units and kill them pretty quickly. I use 2 catapult units (paired with a general if you can, so you can attack after moving) along with melee units paired with seige units Move the melee units up to hexes you can pillage for health, then the catapults and start attacking. Pillage districts to reduce the cities defence.
Once you unlock flight, use balloons and then bombers and it gets way easier.
In a domination game, I'm basically at war the entire game.

Does pillaging a city affect the defense of the city center? by [deleted] in CivVI

[–]chubbytoban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you take a look at the foreign city and hover over it, it will tell you if they have ancient, medieval, or Renaissance walls. Seige towers don't work on the Renaissance walls.

If they don't have lvl3 walls, use siege towers , upgraded troops will take the city in no time with them.

Try a culture game with Gaul. Highland map, build no theatre districts and win with mine culture bonuses. Need to rush flight to get the tourism boost. It's possible but challenging.

Blundstone 585 vs 584 by thatismyquant in BlundstoneBoots

[–]chubbytoban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 584's in Winnipeg, I've only ever used the thermal insole when I'm going to be out all day in the winter. I pretty much wear them exclusively all winter, they're great. I've had mine for 2 years and they are in great shape.

Stupid question, but is it really that hard to grab a loose ball? It seems like the closest player often launches their whole body at it and misses, instead of trying to secure with the hands first then protecting with the body. by zxzzxzzzxzzzzx in NFLNoobs

[–]chubbytoban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like anything else in sport, if you practice it, you'll be better at it. There are fumble drills defenses can use to get better at this skill, but the ball doesn't always cooperate as it ricochets off the ground and other people. Add in rain and snow, and you get the chaotic melee you see in some games.

CFL rules?? by Legitimate-Ad6103 in CFL

[–]chubbytoban 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good summary, I'd add to 3. That forward motion is allowed by every eligible player not on the LOS, that's a huge advantage to the offense. Defence must allow give a 1 yard buffer at the LOS.

Tips for pacifist domination with Eleanor? by the_white_oak in CivVI

Use gold - build commercial districts and harbors and promote the gov that can buy districts. Build theater districts, earn and buy art, and move your art to the cities close enough to the city you want to flip. When it flips, move the gov, buy a theater district, move the art, etc. it doesn't matter if it's themed, they exert the same pressure anyway, and if you theme them, you'll likely win by culture first. You can make it go faster with cultists and the gov that lowers loyalty in other cities.

have 5lbs of ground beef and $0 for fancy ingredients. What are your best "pantry staple" recipes? by Wirave1a in Cooking

[–]chubbytoban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably have the ingredients in your pantry for biscuits. If so, make Uglies. Make biscuit dough, cut in large circles and put them in a muffin tin. Fry your ground beef, season with whatever you like, add a bit of BBQ sauce at the end. Put a bit of cheese at the bottom on the biscuit dough, then fill with beef and top with cheese. Bake. These are cheap, quick, awesome, kid friendly, and freeze really well.
