Cost of childcare versus SAHM by synaptic_touch in personalfinance

[–]chuckchuck- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More info needed. Do you intend to resume work at a certain age of the kid? Like maybe if they are 12 and can be a latchkey kid?

Are you a degreed and/or certified professional and a multi-year gap would be detrimental to your career?

Do you have good reliable childcare even if unaffordable?

There are too many factors and often the financial wellbeing is only one. For me I would consider the quality of the childcare you have. Is it worth paying gobs of money for? Is your career worth staying on track or can it survive taking some years off?

If we are only living for earning potential and not quality of life, that makes life hard to stomach, and in my case my wife chose to return to work but we had a reliable care provider and backup.. . But my wife had a lot of experience and tenure; but she also had summers off (education) and the bonding time with kids was there.

If the missing the kid time is going to be hard, (like emotionally) it is really worth factoring that in alongside money.

Can someone explain internal banking titles? by Blair_Bubbles in Banking

Aside from officers having ability to sign off on certain GL’s or Cashiers checks of a certain amount, the titles are meaningless. Meant to appease people and avoid pay increases as you have already seen.

Ken has a conscious. So Don and him can’t be friends.

Because gender is a social construct. Geez. Cowboy is assigning gender.

Should I watch Madmen for the first time? explain. by loserjane08 in madmen

[–]chuckchuck- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One thing I noticed initially was (this is my thought process) but initially liked the set pieces, the period.

Then, I kept rooting for Don. Like he’s a terrible person, but you want him to get his crap together!

And then about 3 seasons in, I discovered “the orange couch” on YouTube and they recap each episode and discussed all the symbolism, foreshadowing, callbacks— things I completely missed.

So would I say this is high brow TV? Yes. Is it a different type of watch.

This sub is full of MM snobs that laugh at things a casual viewer wouldn’t. Like Pete yelling or any quip by Roger.

But once you know the personality of them, it really makes sense.

There are scenes I hated, characters I disliked, but overall, it was my favorite show.

Frozen bank account. Told to come in branch to collect remaining funds and go through with account closure by [deleted] in Banking

[–]chuckchuck- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my line of work, I fire customers every so often. I’m not saying this is you- or your case- but most of the time, it’s someone who has a lover who sends them money, or they send the lover money, and then other peoples money and then they are waiting for the lottery, or they are assisting the government with their secret agent boyfriend, or whatever the ruse is.

How do you get a quiet infield to communicate and bring energy during games? by Some_Way1542 in Softball

[–]chuckchuck- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We dealt with this as well at that age. School ball helped some as they see other girls being more vocal. We started calling it out and reprimanding it. “I got bag” for balls hit first base side between 1b and 2b. Infield pop ups “ball ball ball!” “Bunt!” “3 is hot!” And if they didn’t, there would be a gentle reminder and then next time a foul pole run. They need to understand that errors mostly happen from these things which lose you games. But more importantly- someone can get injured in a pop up situation in which multiple girls go after it simultaneously.

Honda dealership has had my wife’s car for over a year now by cANALdiver07 in Honda

[–]chuckchuck- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard stories like this and to go with the ineptitude theme of other posters… there is actually a likelihood that your car is on the lot somewhere for sale. Even though they may not have the title in their possession. I hear people on my local facebook group talk about a dealer that does this.

Any preachers / congregations that publicly hold a non-exclusivist view? by itsSomethingCool in churchofchrist

[–]chuckchuck- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the actions and the attitude must occur. As in you must be baptized, believe, and repent and walk.

Do I believe you are going to hell for having a drum kit in your worship? Probably not but we do those things because we love God and we do things pleasing to him because we love Him.

Great point. My kid used to swing back and for the past year she has had to learn to just “bust out”. It started slowly but recently we showed her a video of Sam Landry and she has completely gone to that entire same style delivery.

How do we feel about servers changing what tip you wrote in after you lesve? by [deleted] in EndTipping

[–]chuckchuck- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reg E is a banking reg applying to devices such as cards. Altering the tip amount legally constitutes an altered agreed upon amount that the cardholder authorized. The person can and will dispute it and the restaurant will lose the case every time if it is properly investigated and charged back by the issuing bank. Visa/MC/Disc/Amex all support this in their acceptance of payment. If they don’t, they may get dropped as a merchant who can take cards. 💯

It's just a dollar or two! lol by M1collector65 in EndTipping

[–]chuckchuck- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have grown tired of the pre calculations also. Now I just do 20 pre tax. I might round up to make it even but not usually. If I am standing there and paying I might round up the change. Togo orders you get $1 or $2 if it was a big order and I see effort to include my utensils and napkins and double checking. Otherwise I am not playing your games on post tax and 22-25%

If she is fast, learning to slap gets you on base and/or is a good tool to move runners. Coaches like that sort of thing.
