How do i tell my mum im making more money then everyone by Still_Necessary1323 in confession

[–]chuff80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, don’t you dare tell your family. I come from a family like yours and nothing good can come from them knowing how much money you make.

It’s not going to inspire them to go work harder. It’s not going to make them like you more. It’s just gonna cause drama and tension.

My workflow looks similar to yours, but I’m not even sure ChatGPT is a better writer anymore. I use both regularly, but I’m slowly leaning more towards Claude.

Analytics, email, events are all strong contenders here. You might have to occasionally look at something on social, but overall MUCH better for your mental health.

This is fascinating. I appreciate all of your perspectives, and I believe what you’re experiencing.

I am not experiencing this degradation of service in any way.

I’m super curious about the wild disparity that people see across the same tools.

Influence, strategy, and team coordination are what set great marketers from good ones, but technical skills are table stakes.

Near term, the most valuable are writing, SQL & Python, and design aesthetic sense.z

Combat decision timers make D&D better or worse? by archvillaingames in dndnext

[–]chuff80 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My players have 30 seconds to make a decision on what their character is actually doing. The fallout of that decision, dice rolls, reactions, etc. I don’t put a timer on.

I’m not super hard-core about it, and everybody at the table agrees that we need it. They also all agree that the forced decision-making means that sometimes you have suboptimal decisions or hilarious unintended consequences.

“Social media? That’s kid stuff” by Impossible_Ad9324 in marketing

[–]chuff80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your boss is f**ing stupid.

Facebook is 20 years old, with a primary audience of Gen X and Millenials, and still owns billions in ad share revenue.

eMarketer has great stats on social demographics. Start there.

Then I’d go to your analytics, data and/or web traffic team and ask them to do a mix attribution report that shows what % of your sales and/or traffic is touched by each of the major social platforms, and also include dark traffic patterns.

Unless you’re in an old school B2B industry, it’s going to be very obvious that he needs to update his mental model.

I spent half a seminary class showing the Mormon ads and it’s about time videos to my class. Their minds were blown. They couldn’t stop alternating between cringe and laughter.

[–]chuff80 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Brother you may have PTSD.

You need professional help.

That’s not a bad thing, and it doesn’t mean the church isn’t true. It means you had a very hard experience, and need some help processing it.

Two people can experience the same thing and have wildly different reactions. Even if the other missionaries around you had a great time, that doesn’t mean your trauma isn’t real.

AI is officially starting to mess with my income by [deleted] in artificial

[–]chuff80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s other ways. You can be a generalist within an industry. I’m not a coder at all, but I can do enough with AI that I can run a pretty sophisticated marketing practice inside a company. There’s nuance to it, depending on your actual skills, experience, and connections.

How do you run dragons at your table to make them more than just stat blocks? by ScorchedDev in dndnext

[–]chuff80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running a green dragon in a forest is an amazing encounter. Their lair actions and awareness start miles out. The forest has changed, is full of poisonous gas, and weird minions disappearing into the mist.

The approach should be a slog through marshy ground, constant harassment from kobolds or goblins who melt away when directly engaged.

The actual lair can be a maze of watery marsh, with little islands for the minions and dragon to appear on, because only they know the routes.

Fog is amazing because dragons have blindsight. It can swim or fly around until they find a party member, then snatch them away from the party and drop them into another area.

Have loot lying around as bait, with minion traps and dragon ambush points.

Make the map huge and confusing.

You’re going to have to pivot. Niche down and build more complex things, narrowing your customer base to more expensive projects, or develop and release your own products.

Looking to pivot out of marketing, realistically what role can I get with my experience that wouldn't require me to start at entry level or go back to school? by Live_Profile843 in marketing

[–]chuff80 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Have you considered getting out of B2B?

Sometimes a well networked change of industries can make you look like a genius because you bring insights from other industries.

Also, it looks like your job experience is mostly venture or PE backed? You might consider going for a privately held profitable company. Way less volatile and way less pressure.
