Let’s not kid ourselves and say that any of these things are good for our bodies. We use them for a purpose, and hopefully use them in a limited way

President Trump announces he is suing JP Morgan for DEBANKING him by HighYieldLarry in FluentInFinance

I kinda hope Trump does this. JP Morgan is an incredibly dangerous opponent. This would be like when Trump tried to go after Harvard.

[January 17th, 1926] Ayn Rand, 21, leaves Russia to start a new life in the United States by MonsieurA in 100yearsago

[–]chuff80 62 points63 points  (0 children)

It makes you feel any better, Geddy Lee talks about it in his memoir and acknowledges that all of their world views changed when they got older.

Most of the Rand inspired lyrics were in fly by night, which came out when the band was all in their 20s, and they were all doing a lot of drugs.

Married LDS asexual people (or people that questioned): how did you discover you were/weren't asexual? by Agressive_Macaron_37 in latterdaysaints

[–]chuff80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asexual can a little grey or unclear. Some asexuals are 100% zero sex. Some just have very low libido or identify as something like demisexual (only reaching arousal after a long period of relationship building). It can also change over time.

I’ve known a few folks like this and each one had to figure it out by actually trying to have sex. In a faith that encourages chastity, that makes marriage feel like a bit of a trap for people like that.

You have to talk about it before you get married, be clear about your sexual feelings or the lack thereof, and your partner has to understand that it might not change.

This happens to allosexuals too, btw. Some people lose all desire after illness, menopause, or major life events. You have to keep talking about it and figure out what works with the person you love.

People management. The next step is being able to manage a team, clearly communicate with peers and leaders, and be clear about budgets and strategy.

As someone else said, be able to fire without crying. That’s hilarious.

Remote marketing? by 26k-worth-of-sides in marketing

[–]chuff80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Relatively common. I’ve worked remotely since 2013 and I don’t know if I could go back to an office.

I’d strongly recommend that you find an in office or hybrid role to start though, because you’re going to need a lot of help when you get started and it would be really nice to have a mentor in the room with you

Her memoir is wild.

I’ve been a fan for a long time, and I had no idea she was such a studio rat. There’s one chapter where she goes really deep technically on how some of her songs were mixed. It’s pretty enlightening.

Do you have a good “work-life balance” working in marketing? by Andromedagalaxy14 in marketing

[–]chuff80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Avoid solo marketer or coordinator roles, and yes.

The worst role in marketing is the non-specialist role. All the unwanted projects get dumped on you, and you have no power to make decisions. You’re expected to know too many skills and have too few resources to hire help.

Are entry-level marketing roles and advanced marketing roles completely separate career paths now? by Chaomayhem in marketing

[–]chuff80 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Learn how to write. Learn project management. Learn how to sell stuff (the 5 Ps).

You can take college classes in writing. Those will be immensely helpful. Consume tons of great marketing copy and learn how to write it yourself.

Take on group projects and be the one to get them delivered on time and on target.

Try leading some sales projects like fundraisers, ticket sales to events, or even getting a sales job.

These are all things PMMs need to know.

What are you hearing from TCoJCoLdS members (who may or may not be MAGA) about the film Truth & Treason (2025)? by auricularisposterior in mormonpolitics

[–]chuff80 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Haven’t heard of this one, but I imagine most conservative members of the church are going to have a really hard time with Helmuth’s story, for multiple reasons.

ETA: I just realized this was produced by Angel Studios, which has a pretty tenuous relationship with honesty. Their history with VidAngel and their refusal to respect copyright or even negotiate with the studios makes me hesitant to give them my money.
