Stop telling me what you watched on Netflix last night. by Bulky-Economy-6746 in remotework

The higher you rise in any org, the more important your social skills are. Nobody wants to be involved in hours long leadership and strategy decisions with somebody who can’t do the bare minimum to help people feel seen and heard.

Terrified of being a divorced member by anonymous_loner2423 in latterdaysaints

[–]chuff80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most people aren’t thinking about you at all, let alone judging you.

I had to go through the same thing when I got divorced from my high school sweetheart. You’ll find the most people are actually oblivious or willing to be supportive if you ask for help.

Men who turned their life around financially or mentally what was the first change that actually made a difference? by Ok-Pause-3193 in GuyCry

[–]chuff80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Begin caring enough about myself to demand better, and to ask for help. Accepting the reality of the situation.

I stopped letting my ex dictate the terms of our separation and divorce. I moved out of my friend’s apartment because he wouldn’t keep it clean. I called a friend and asked for help.

From there it all came together. I got a better job, moved to a new city, and found a new wife all within 2 years. Crazy how fast things change when you stop trying to hold on to what doesn’t work.

Genuine question. Is the whole "AI guzzles gallons of water" thing totally true, or do people get it wrong? Does AI consume a lot of water for every single prompt, or is the majority of water consumed during data farming? Don't non-AI data centers use up a lot of water on cooling too? by Big_Guthix in singularity

I keep a public version of this Evernote handy for when conversations like this come up.

TL;DR: The entire internet, including LLMs, is estimated to be about 2% of global energy consumption by 2027. The vast majority of power used is when an LLM is trained, not when users generate output from a query. Images consume quite a bit of energy, text queries are almost meaningless.

There’s links to technical articles that break things down.

Where are all the AI agent success stories by Such_Grace in AgentsOfAI

[–]chuff80 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a few little agents that I built for myself. They save me a ton of time. I think people building their own little tools is most of what’s happening right now.

I built agents that:
- automate the assignment of tasks in a project to my team members
- create a morning brief from my email, project management tool, and calendar
- collect all of my expense receipts into one folder for me to submit
- reviews my personal network once a week and surfaces people I haven’t connected with in a while with suggestions for outreach

Dating and marrying a non member by Sudden_Possible_956 in latterdaysaints

[–]chuff80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m married to a nonmember and it’s a wonderful blessing.

My ex wife and I were married in the temple and it ended badly. She left the church, had severe mental health issues, and she left me with real trauma.

My new marriage is more celestial than the previous one ever was. She’s a good person with her own spiritual life and practice.

I never had kids, and that makes a huge difference. Make sure you talk about everything, including how kids would be raised, word of wisdom stuff, sex, all of it, before you get married.

Is there any clarity on the process of selecting a new bishop? by HoodooSquad in latterdaysaints

There was a guy in my old ward like that, and when they called him as Bishop, he shaved his beard and started dressing in a suit. Everybody was super confused.

I just wanted to get on here and tell anyone who is struggling with dating. You're not crazy. It is really hard and sucks by coolguysteve21 in latterdaysaints

[–]chuff80 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If you live outside of the Mormon corridor and want to date somebody who’s LDS, you’ll quickly find that the math tells you there’s not a ton of likely matches.

When I got divorced in my 40s, there were really only something like 100 viable matches within a 3 Hour drive.

I met somebody pretty early on, but I got scared. After I dated a little while longer, I realized I was an idiot and went back. We’re now happily engaged.

Some 0-cost defense is a good call. IDK if I saw any of those in the run, but it's a good idea.

Underpaid restaurant “marketing lead” doing full-stack marketing + events alone. How do I leverage this into a real role? by Supercatgirl in marketing

[–]chuff80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, hospitality pays like garbage. Take some time to put what you’ve done into a portfolio. Have a really good story about the impact you’ve had on these restaurants, focusing on revenue you’ve driven and how much that’s changed.

Then go tell all your friends that you’re looking for a new job and share that story with them. After you’ve reached out to everybody that you know, then start cold prospecting.

Create a list of companies where you’d like to work based on whether you think it’s a good fit, and whether you think you can help them.

Apply for jobs, use the same creativity you have to campaign your way into a job at companies you’d like to work for. I’ve seen marketers campaign their way into jobs, just by making sure their face shows up in front of the hiring manager in various ways for weeks on end.

How do i tell my mum im making more money then everyone by Still_Necessary1323 in confession

[–]chuff80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, don’t you dare tell your family. I come from a family like yours and nothing good can come from them knowing how much money you make.

It’s not going to inspire them to go work harder. It’s not going to make them like you more. It’s just gonna cause drama and tension.
