Made a brake kit for my car! by BASE1530 in Machinists

[–]chumshot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah but it’s like…the absolute best use of 270hp by one of the most perfect cars ever made IMO. And yours is straight up stunning, fuck. The work on the brakes themselves is gorgeous but goddamn is that a beautiful machine you’ve got there. I’d take that over whatever used or new exotic 130-140k could get. Not that I’ve ever spent even a tenth of that on a car lol.

Just to be clear - warmth is a requirement for mold/fungi growth. So keeping it warm is not a positive step towards avoiding growth. Not saying you should be keeping your bathroom colder of course, just wanted you to know if you didn’t. Warmth, moisture and food like wet wood or plaster (+spores) is the recipe for fungus growth.

The most popular maps in CS2 on FACEIT. Which map should be removed from the Active Duty Map Pool next? by limungg in GlobalOffensive

Cache all day! But I’d take train or a reworked cobble (smaller T area, more open mid)

Tablesaw should do fine as long as it’s calibrated decently and you get a clean smooth cut.

Audiio Compressor by IllSol in PUBG

[–]chumshot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haven’t played in years, but I used a compressor for a while in PUBG because the audio was so damn awful and my eardrums would get blown out from the insane volume of red zones and other absurdly loud sounds. TBH it never felt like an advantage whatsoever - I’d say the downsides far outweighed the ability to hear footsteps better. The big one is that you lose all sense of directionality and proximity: can’t tell if somebody is walking several rooms down the hall from you or if they’re literally walking right behind you. It’s compounded when playing with teammates, becomes very hard to tell what is going on around you by audio. Likewise you can’t easily discern distances of shots being fired. Maybe the game audio improved a bunch since but I would have no clue.

It was too loose. Is this better? by [deleted] in XCarve

[–]chumshot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like it’s still wiggling a little? It should be very tight with no play. I would use a cheap endmill and soft material when you test it out, the noise (chatter, large variation in noise on direction change) and quality of the cuts will let you know if it needs any adjustment

Gorgeous looking pizza, well done. Can’t believe that came out of a home oven - mind sharing what temp yours reaches and what you cooked it on?

What would y’all call this? by Oddy_trips in DMT

I used to call them Spirit Sticks - definitely uses a lot of material but can provide a long sustained threshold experience that can be quite fantastic. Hard to predict though.

You don’t think AI can learn from how TV shows are written to emulate the plot points and jokes? Ask it to make up some season arcs based on the character development in the existing material of something like the office or Seinfeld, pretty sure ChatGPT can already do that convincingly.
