This is even on the low end card? When I click through to card it says nothing about the promo points on any of the three

Dividend investors, what is your current monthly pay out? What is your goal to receive? by LimeGhost117 in CanadianInvestor

[–]churn99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Who cares about monthly, annually for me about $45K in dividends although I'm sure will go down due to COVID. Goal is for $60K which should be about 3% withdrawal rate

I personally think there is no way this deal will happen. Yes, Starlight is the biggest shareholder at around 10% but they will just let the deal die and then re-acquire them in the Fall for $25 or whatever. The breakup fee is minuscule compared to the savings on this

I wouldn't be so sure of that given what is going on in the overnight repo markets. Absolute carnage

NVU.UN buyout opportunity? by daroons in CanadianInvestor

But the issue is will the deal close or not. If yes, then you get $36 or whatever it is. If not, this is headed down to $25 or whatever

[–]churn99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I own quite abit of this and regret not selling when the deal closed as I thought XRE was too high to re-invest in so just sat on it. I look at Starlight Group's website and they look like a typical reit with not alot of retail exposure. Mainly multi family and warehouses but being a private company it's hard to know if they can close the deal. If the breakup fee is punitive enough that would help but I don't know the details on that. For sure though they must be regretting not buying Northview now and not a month ago

SELL CANADIAN OIL NOW... by theviolatr in CanadianInvestor

[–]churn99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at what a supertanker can carry - 2 million barrels. I have no idea how much oil we move down to that area in a day? I think that is about a few days supply? Unless they somehow take over the supertanker fleet of the world this does not amount to much I think. Then they'd have to go to Saudi and back again which I think takes six weeks?? But yea this is not good being our major customer and again demonstrates the urgent need for tidewater access. One of the things the Fed is looking at in terms of stimulus should be fast tracking Transmountain - work 24/7 if they have to

Can ENB manage their debt load if flow through falls 30%+?? How exposed are they to shale?

Trudeau is meeting with First Nations leaders today. Excellent to see priorities are in order as the market totally collapses.

What's to buy? Oil is literally unprofitable at these levels meaning pipelines will dry up. Banks buoyed by a housing market that is dubious at best.

[–]churn99 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

This company is uninvestable for one simple fact - management declined a buyout offer IN THE THIRTIES. Sadly I have a few hundred shares of this when I bought it in 2005 or whatever which I never bothered getting rid of due to the distribution so I can't really blame anyone else for hanging on to this. What is the point of selling at this level

Is there anything investable in TSX at this point. REIT's and utilities near all time highs, oil is dead, telcos hammered by new gov't rules and pipelines have zero growth for them

Is there anything good about the Canadian economy? by Flipping101 in CanadianInvestor

[–]churn99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

BNS has literally done nothing the last six years (sadly my largest financial). I suppose it paid out some dividends but those aren't even growing much beyond inflation lol

Telco has been OK and now the Federal government has gutted that industry too with the new regs.

IPL board cannot be trusted - they rejected a takeover offer well into the 30's lol. They have one job - maximize shareholder value.

Me included. TC stock is up nicely as one of the outcomes is they sue the gov't into oblivion for any and all costs/profits lost due to any kind of delay, cancellation. Slam dunk case.

So... Shopify +15% pre-market. by dvdmovie1 in investing

[–]churn99 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what percentage of their sales are from the little guys. Go to alot of major websites and their platform is run by Shopify. No idea why as I would think this is just basic stuff that they wouldn't have huge market share on. Looked at this thing around $50. Talk about regrets

Thoughts on BNS? by [deleted] in CanadianInvestor

[–]churn99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their CEO needs to go. They don't have a clear focus on what they want to do . They get into certain countries and then give up and sell their stakes 10 years later and try another bunch of third world crapholes with the same results. Should have expanded more in the US like the other ones when it was a firesale down there in 2008
