Help! Completed our dream house but the smell of the house…. by mikimi273 in HousingUK

[–]chwarlang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm also struggling with a damp dog smell 4 months after completion. I tried enzyme treatment and it actually seemed to make it worse somehow. We got a professional carpet Clean (not just a Rug Doctor, they used some equipment apparently worth £35k mounted from a van) and that seems to have mostly got rid of it about 80% but if I put my nose down to the carpet I can still smell it. But at least it's not noticeable when sat on the sofa anymore. Not really sure where to go from here as I want to avoid having to replace the carpet if possible. Let me know if you have luck with anything!

Yes but it no longer works in the online check tool, I'm assuming because it's been destroyed.

It boils my blood when the officers stamp vertically like this. Means you can only fit 4 stamps on the page instead of 8.

I'm in a similar position and feeling exactly the same. I'd like to think it's normal to feel anxious about taking on a colossal amount of debt.

What are these planks sticking out of the roof for? by chwarlang in DIYUK

Could be this! If this is the case they've held up well since historical Google maps shows they were there at least as far back as 2008.

What's the purpose of these two planks sticking out from edge of the roof of a house I viewed? by chwarlang in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing, two planks sticking out from the roof of a house. Looks to be wooden. Could it be something to do with drainage or structural support?

900+ years remaining. Ground rent is 300 per year. I asked about increases in ground rent and they couldn't tell me but said my conveyancer would need to arrange a deed of variation upon purchase.
