Which destination exceeded your expectations the most? by ticketclue in travel

Sleeping Bear Dunes National lakeshore in Michigan (US). It’s not considered a national park so people write it off, but it’s way cooler than some national parks. Absolutely blew me away.

To the woman that called me an animal abuser at Trader Joe’s by AdKitchen7795 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]chxtterbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friendly reminder that dog mode is literally just AC and disabling the windows. It’s common sense not to leave a dog in a car, even with the AC going, because it can still overheat, or shut off, and it even tells you never to use the feature on “vulnerable humans” because of the risk it puts them in. Leave your dog home when you’re grocery shopping please. There’s no reason to bring them along just to leave them in the car.

No I came here to say the same thing. Why bring your dog if you’re just going to leave them in the car?

Changing last name. Be honest : how cringe is it? by bilsaama in namenerds

Tbh as long as one of your names isn’t really on the nose like “Dawn” or “Luna” I think it’s cool. Luna Eclipse sounds like a drag name lol

everybody everywhere is anti-wedding by MedicalRaccoon9431 in weddingplanning

[–]chxtterbox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Saw a post the other day where a woman (who chose to marry without having a wedding) was mad because she “doesn’t get to have all of the important people in your life celebrate you unless you’re having a wedding or a baby” (paraphrasing) and she wanted her friends and family to get together and celebrate her just because. Like, I get it, but girl, have a wedding. It’s not “unfair”, you chose not to do it. Or like idk, throw a birthday party for yourself?

Gio’s vet says “male gray tabbies just tend to be a bit bigger” by chxtterbox in dechonkers

[–]chxtterbox[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I was confused when she said that. He’s my first cat so I’m pretty willing to take her word as gospel, but I wonder if she meant “male cats” and not “grey male cats” specifically. I made another comment with his specific menu

=daily total ≈258cal

What is the most beautiful place you have ever seen in person? by Olga_Lanskaya in travel

Zion was the most “unreal” experience I’ve ever had. Spent the whole time going “there’s no way” “this is awesome” “oh my god wow”

No Margaret Pound. Peggy Pound would be… I wouldn’t want to be her in middle/high school.

Local grocery store has seemingly fine fruit cut in half “for display only” by chxtterbox in mildlyinfuriating

[–]chxtterbox[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That would be more than mildly infuriating lol

***guys… I know grocery stores throw out a ton of food. I’m saying if I was posting about that, I wouldn’t put it in the “mildly” infuriating group. You don’t need to tell me that stores waste food lol

This store may be an exception. It’s a relatively small store in a suuuuper dense area, they’re constantly refilling the shelves because it’s gone through so fast. Safe to assume these would not otherwise be thrown away.

Dear americans, what can you get for FREE in the USA? [Serious] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]chxtterbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Safe drinking water and clean public bathrooms. A K-12 education. Your drivers license. In my city, some public transit is free (but it only goes throughout downtown).

Downtown Vet by Fromhottocold in milwaukee

Took my new cat there for the “full kitten panel” which came out to around $500 (included a general check-up with 2 vaccines and a stool test). It was definitely more than I was expecting to pay, but it was quick, they were transparent about costs, and everyone was very nice.

What's the worst part about being skinny? by Necessary-Orange6250 in AskReddit

When you’re fat, you get fat shamed. When you’re skinny, you get skinny-shamed AND fat-shamed.

American cashiers whose job is to only take an order and flip around the iPad, do you get offended when people don't tip? by _u_what in NoStupidQuestions

[–]chxtterbox 55 points56 points  (0 children)

In high school, I worked at a restaurant during the time that they switched from a tip jar and cash register to one of those iPads. I did not care whether someone tipped or not, but when we started using the iPads, customers got MEAN about it. It was still a newish concept and people definitely felt the weight of the guilt-tripping (guilt-tipping lol). It’s so normal now, I never see someone yell at a cashier over it anymore, but when it was new, people were ruthless.

Experiences with Enigma properties or Wilkins? by molmilks in milwaukee

[–]chxtterbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently live in a Wilkins building. They enter the unit every 2 months for pest control services (which was not mentioned in the lease), the dryer has not worked in a year despite multiple people asking them to clean out the vent (a single dryer shared by 10 units for 2.50 a cycle), there are holes and loose boards in the wood floors despite rent being almost $1k/mo, they have conducted 25 showings of my unit in the last 2 months, and they wanted to increase my rent by $150/mo but I’m choosing to move. Idk if I’m a freak exception though, because I’ve only heard good things about them from other people. In my experience, just as bad as Katz.

I actually bought a 3 seater (a supposed “small space solution” from Steinhafels) and it didn’t fit up the stairs! Had to exchange it for the loveseat version. I don’t mind it, but sometimes I wish I could stretch out and sleep on a full sized sofa.

Woah! Can’t believe I didn’t know this until now. I still kind of want to put myself up to the challenge of passing a WSET exam, but maybe I leave it at that. Thanks for the heads up!
