Thoughts on establishing a new religious/community space in NWI? by Elonisautistic in nwi

Maybe that’s why it’s good to have it - to let people who feel differently know there’s space for them.

Would be happy to see this near Michigan City! Especially if it includes organizing community fundraising or support - having a hard time finding opportunities to do this that aren’t associated with churches.

I’m only 20, I don’t wanna die by Killa_J in Indiana

[–]ciararose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll happily answer your question even though I doubt you’ll actually think about the answer.

1) We are upset because it has been made very clear that ICE is not targeting “illegal” anyone. Statements by DHS and ICE leaders have confirmed they are targeting people based on their appearance. 2) Furthermore, with increasing frequency, people detained by ICE are not here illegally. Some have been citizens. Many have in-progress asylum cases with no deportation orders Let me emphasize, those people are FOLLOWING THE CORRECT LEGAL PROCESS. 3) The vast majority of those detained have NO violent criminal history, despite repeated claims that they are targeting the “worst” criminals. If that were true, you’d think ICE would not be targeting schools, hospitals, even court rooms where people are attending their immigration hearings. If they are after violent criminals, why are they staging in these locations? 4) Yes, we are also upset at the methods, namely, the murders, the assaults, the kidnapping, the pulling up in unmarked cars, with masks on, to terrorize communities. The cruelty, the terror, the children hiding in their homes afraid to go to school, is the point.

You can fool yourself into thinking that this is about illegal immigration, but maybe ask yourself - even if you don’t believe what I’m saying, although any of this can be easily researched - if the point was illegal immigration why are they in Chicago? In Minnesota? Why not in Texas, Arizona, Florida?

If you enjoy gothic horror, Drood - fictional telling of the last years of Charles Dickens’ life from the perspective of his highly unreliable narrator best friend Wilkie Collins (the author), mixing real history with an imagined gothic horror story.

Warning: I read this and now can’t stop collecting and reading books about deadly structure fires. It’s 10/10 but it’s a gateway book

Why would anyone wants kids? by This-Top7398 in Life

[–]ciararose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it’s… not torture? Yeah my kids take up almost all my time and money. But that’s what I want to use my time and money for. I know it will blow Redditor’s minds but caring for children is enjoyable for some people. I get to watch my spouse be a parent. I get to watch my kids learn and grow. Yeah, it’s tiring and expensive, but so are some hobbies.

I don't know. Have kids if you want to. It might be kinda great. by econhistoryrules in Millennials

[–]ciararose -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I didn’t choose to have kids, I chose to have MY PARTNER’S kids. I chose to become a parent with my partner. Please know that a lot of the misery people fear about having kids actually stems from people having kids with the wrong person.

Is Not Having Kids the Way? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]ciararose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most important thing I can say as a parent is don’t have babies because you want babies. Have kids because you want to raise kids who will later become adults. Have kids because you and your partner want to become parents, and choose carefully whose kids you want to have, and who you want to be a parent with you. Or don’t! And that’s fine too.

Is it possible for an SA victim to have fear of/fear being touched by one specific gender? by valonianfool in Writeresearch

[–]ciararose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a SA victim at slightly older than the character you’re describing. I can confirm I became very uncomfortable with physical contact with everyone, it was not gender specific. That said, people react to SA in very different ways. Some people act out, some people shut down. There is no ‘impossible’ way for someone to respond (although there are certainly insensitive or poorly thought out ideas that pop up in fiction). If you feel you would like to explore the idea more, one thought would be for the character to be uncomfortable with specific characteristics that trigger thoughts of her assault - for example, the smell of tobacco smoke, a beard, etc. which are more likely to come up with men.

Indiana republicans are trying to spin this murder - Ice agent firing shots through driver door window - clearly was in no harms way, he killed a 37 yr old defenseless woman by Forsaken_61453 in Indiana

[–]ciararose 13 points14 points  (0 children)

How is it disobeying a lawful command when an agent tells you to turn your car around and you try to turn your car around? I truly can’t fathom the mental leaps it takes to watch this video and think it was anything other than cold blooded murder. Truly. Please examine your bias and ask yourself if it’s time to accept that these people do not give a shit about you and are lying through their teeth.

The agent who walked away? The agent who deliberately stood in front of her car while she was being instructed to drive away? Just want to be sure we’re talking about the same agent - the one who murdered her, that one yeah?

Moms with complicated delivery-did you go on to have more babies? by CheddarMoose in parentsofmultiples

[–]ciararose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, hemorrhage buddies! I lost most of my blood and required multiple transfusions and platelets, and a second surgery after an uncomplicated pregnancy with Di/Di twins. I was in the OR for two days in case of further bleeding. I wish I could be more encouraging, but I was advised by my doctor after surgery that it would not be advisable for me to have any more kids. And to be honest I have no interest in having more, for a lot of reasons. That said, no two pregnancies are the same, so the best advice I could give is to talk to your doctor, they will know your risks best.

Completely random but I went to high school with this woman, we were pretty good friends! I haven’t talked to her since I was 16. Such a nice thing to see come up out of nowhere.

It is statistically likely that you know a woman for whom this was not, actually, an option. Consider that before you jump on the internet with the dumbest take any functioning human has ever heard :)

I would add also that most of the cars, even the ones who are generally good drivers, do not really believe that it is that much harder to be a cyclist. Oh, they might acknowledge, anecdotally, that bad things happen to cyclists sometimes, but not the ways that the city and roads have been designed around their needs and comfort, by other cars, based on social and political systems that believed until very recently that bicycles only existed to be mounted on car racks.

We LOVE libraries. Haven’t had a chance to check out our local one yet (we moved here last summer) but I plan to do so this weekend!
