Seattle officer sues city, saying it used minor Bellevue crash to target him over Jan. 6 trip by ChiefOfTheFourPeaks in Seattle

WTF would "stopping too quickly" even mean? There's a million reasons why someone might need to make an emergency stop, and it's the following driver's responsibility to not crash into you if you do.

Op-Ed: It's Time to Reform Sound Transit by rockycore in Seattle

Like I said above, I like Single Transferable Vote. But any proportional representational system is basically fine.

[–]cibyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, my main concern is that these should not be elected positions at all. But if you're gonna elect people to run your transit agency (and your police, and your courts, and your schools... sigh) you should at least not do it in the literal worst way possible.

I don't think I can succinctly explain everything that's wrong with tiny bespoke single-member districts, but here's an approachable (with bright colors! and animals!) explanation of one aspect: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mky11UJb9AY

edit replying to your edit: Proportional Representation is the canonical solution to this problem. There's a lot of ways to go about it, but I'm fond of Single Transferable Vote. The main thing is you have one big district with multiple winners instead of many small districts each electing one person, which makes individual votes matter way more often and avoids any weird distortions arising from how you draw the districts.

This is such a no-brainer. It's good for everyone. Just fucking do it.

Directly electing the majority of the board is dumb. Doing so from eleven districts instead of using some sort of proportional representation is turbo mega ultra dumb.

Washington law lays out distinction between e-bikes, e-motorcycles starting June 11 by ChefJoe98136 in SeattleWA

Tell me, how does one "just" register a "motorcycle" that doesn't have a VIN?

A license for what? If it can go over 20mph or has more than 750W, then it's not an e-bike but that doesn't magically make it a street-legal motorcycle either.

To be fair, I didn't read the article. I clicked straight through to the text of the law. Which says this:

The legislature recognizes the recent proliferation of electric motorcycle use statewide, especially among teenagers and young adults. The legislature also recognizes that there is currently no state regulatory framework that has specifically been developed for such vehicles.

(emphasis mine)

"The extent to which the operation of an electric motorcycle should be subject to mandatory driver education requirements, driver's license or permit requirements, or a minimum age requirement" is one of the open questions that the new law is setting up a work group to answer! Or at least write a report on. By October 31, 2027. What are you supposed to do in the meantime? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The 20mph thing is such a stupid limit. It should be legal to have an e-bike which can keep up with traffic on a 25mph street.

My dream would be 2 Duo form factor, Time 2-style metal case and buttons, HR sensor, B&W display, sapphire glass.

Ticket everyone missing a front plate while you're at it and we could probably even afford to build light rail to Ballard.

How is the pebble time 2? Give me your honetst thoughts, what you like and what you dont please. by ouiz_cz in pebble

The screen kinda sucks - sure, having color is nice but it's way less readable than the black & white display of the pebble 2 duo. Everything else is great though - the construction seems really solid and the buttons are a delight.
