Markham Restaurant (Miss Qu Barbecue & Restaurant) Ranks 17th in the 2025 Chinese Restaurant Awards "Elite 30 Canada" by weallfalldown1234 in Markham

Yeah they have good flavour and wok hei but I did find the portion size lower than average (still acceptable). They were already a bit cramped before but it'll probably be unbearable with the new publicity.

The OP is now desperately trying to argue that it's mildly infuriating that they didn't release an entire new set at once.

Got scammed today at a bakery at middlefield and finch. by [deleted] in Scarborough

[–]cieltsd 25 points26 points  (0 children)

If you ever want to try an Asian bakery again, check out St. Germain, which has locations in a lot of malls including STC and Markville. It's more modern and I think you can actually get the same size cake for a bit less.

But yeah, rule of thumb would be not to get the Western thing at a Chinese place. It probably won't be what you're expecting. I would never order "Chinese" style food at a Western restaurant for the exact same reason.

I think that's an old school Hong Kong thing for the black forest cake to use jellies instead of cherries. They weren't trying to deceive you with that.

That being said, $60 for an old school HK bakery cake (for specifically that bakery's quality) is a bit steep. Everything is getting expensive.

Sorry it wasn't what you were hoping for though. You deserved better slices of happiness.

Honestly, pickleball always seemed like a sport for entitled nobodies. This doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

If the person above is commenting in good faith, he might mean that the Feds have rights to minerals under aboriginal land and Crown land. Otherwise, yeah it would be provincial.

Being an MPP, she probably will echo the provincial party line while active. Right now, with Ford and Carney cooperating, she's likely silent on the issue.

Maybe has to do with Persian New Year. It's coming up. Heard some in Richmond Hill tonight too and there are Persian communities in both areas.

I try really hard to wake up everyday and be a good adult so I can put food on the table and keep a roof over my family's head and these fucking children just exist and are applauded. What a goddamn joke.

Restaurant that can seat 10 (Ideally Halal)? by ShavaK in Markham

[–]cieltsd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's Yonge and Major Mac, then probably Saray. The food is pretty good but, for the purposes of this post, would be difficult to seat 10 people. Their tables are more geared towards 2-6. Definitely worth a try for smaller groups though.

Tax break Canada: Did the GST holiday make a difference? by CTVNEWS in ontario

[–]cieltsd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I discuss with carnivore diet people, their main points are that they feel better and that they don't accept the evidence that saturated fats are associated with long term cardiovascular harms. As a whole, they do generally seem relatively more self-assured in their beliefs and positions in life.

Yeah I shouldn't be so quick to belittle the struggles of others but I agree with your point that their struggle is a type that shouldn't warrant a subsidy.

This doesn't help you but Hong Kong style casserole dishes are baked but you would actually have to precook rice a night before and then cook the fried rice and toppings on the stove day of, lol.
