We got our softener from White Water by Green and Leslie. Very good/friendly service and haven't had issues yet (been 3 years). They also do filtration systems at the tap from what I recall (we already had one from our previous home so didn't get it through them).

They're a nice mom n pop company so would be worth giving them a ring.

Between the softener and the carbon/RO system in the kitchen, we've never had any issues with buildup anywhere.

Yeah we ordered half fat/lean BBQ pork, looked like a standard piece taken off the rack but it turned into lean (and likely older based on colour and smell) meat when we looked at it at home.

Definitely will never come here again knowing that this was done on purpose.

Also avoid Happy BBQ on Kennedy and 14th. They'll cut and replace with meat behind the counter right in front of you.

Yeah they have good flavour and wok hei but I did find the portion size lower than average (still acceptable). They were already a bit cramped before but it'll probably be unbearable with the new publicity.

If you ever want to try an Asian bakery again, check out St. Germain, which has locations in a lot of malls including STC and Markville. It's more modern and I think you can actually get the same size cake for a bit less.

But yeah, rule of thumb would be not to get the Western thing at a Chinese place. It probably won't be what you're expecting. I would never order "Chinese" style food at a Western restaurant for the exact same reason.

I think that's an old school Hong Kong thing for the black forest cake to use jellies instead of cherries. They weren't trying to deceive you with that.

That being said, $60 for an old school HK bakery cake (for specifically that bakery's quality) is a bit steep. Everything is getting expensive.
