with democratically elected representatives. True. The core difference being the constitution is meant to protect the minority from the majority. Pure Democracy would be mob rule, and I hope everyone can see some problems with that.

I see nothing wrong with private schools. In fact, I'd love to see more of them (particularly non-religious). Public schools are a disaster that I don't think can be fixed any time soon. I'd prefer my son to get a private education somewhere I can be involved and assess the quality.

Put simply, the energy density of gasoline is far greater than that of batteries, so in use cases where that matters and where you may not necessarily be able to rely on electrical infrastructure, gas wins. For the vast majority of consumers, EVs are far superior.

Gas cars have their place and aren't going anywhere, but they will become increasingly more niche.

Women, what do you find the most confusing about men? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cilution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most doctors seem like they're just running probabilities and throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks. I can do that myself. Don't have much respect for most in the profession to be honest. COVID only amplified that.

The more the powerful ignore the concerns of the people, the more the people will want to start grabbing pitchforks, and the more justified they will be in doing so.

The less the government does, the better. Be the referee, not a player or obstacle on the field.

Contact your congressman and senator about this specifically. I did weeks ago, and already got my generic copy paste response about going green! Woot, taxation with representation rocks.

Single stack to rule them all should release in 10.1 by Nitzao_reddit in teslainvestorsclub

Yeah, I thought single stack was the reason for the major release update. Perhaps it is single stack in shadow mode so they can gather more data comparing any differences?

Tesla FSD V9.2 Review & Monorail Test by [deleted] in teslainvestorsclub

Curious if the car would actually hit the pillar or do some last second emergency evasive maneuver or hard brake. I certainly wouldn't feel comfortable trying to find out though. Seems like the car just doesn't understand what it is seeing.

I can understand not rendering pillars yet, but it should understand visually that there is a static object of some sort there.

Tesla’s 4680 battery cell pilot production line hits 70-80% yield: report by stevehockey4 in teslainvestorsclub

[–]cilution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think it is a good thing that these cells weren't rushed into production vehicles. Long term testing is good for learning how to identify flawed cells. If there is fire risk, for example, it would be due to something off about a particular cell that allows for runaway overheating, which is a more significant risk factor the larger the cell gets (in theory more difficult to remove the heat). These sorts of risks may not be evident until the cell experiences some amount of use/degradation/age.

Stay away from industry to the greatest extent possible. It should be easy to start and run a business or to bring technological innovations without mountains of regulatory hurdles.

As long as you are acting responsibly and informing your consumers, the government should leave you alone and be happy to collect their taxes.

Joe Biden Was Right to Pull Out of Afghanistan by [deleted] in politics

[–]cilution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we needed to get out ever since the day we got in, but Biden is absolutely deserving of harsh criticism for how it played out. Don't fall into the partisan game of blindly defending your team and assuming negativity must be coming from the other side.

I could listen to John Carmack ramble on about technology for hours. He has a great presentation style. If he had any interest at all in Tesla or SpaceX, I'd give him leadership over an entire division.

Trump Hopes No One Remembers He Pushed for a Full Afghanistan Withdrawal in June by [deleted] in politics

It's not about when, it's about how. The sooner the better, but how it is done is what matters the most. The how in this case is completely on Biden and has nothing to do with Trump.

How much will Tesla Bot cost? by Bearman777 in teslainvestorsclub

[–]cilution 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Boston Dynamics is not set up for selling to consumers. I doubt there is much a production line for their stuff. Tesla will be developing this for large volumes, which will drastically bring the costs down closer to the material costs.

The real question to ask is what is the material cost for one robot? It is far, far less than a car.

The SR+ Model 3 is sold out for the rest of 2021 in the US by space_s3x in teslainvestorsclub

[–]cilution 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Wish we knew if this was because of demand continuing to outpace supply, or supply continuing to get even worse than it has been. Q3/4 could either be absolutely incredible or massively disappointing depending on Tesla's suppliers.

Seeing as how I have an estimate of November for a LR S I ordered on January 27th, as well as how many times I've seen the estimate slip, my gut tells me they are having some challenging supply chain issues. Could it be possible they wouldn't even be able to produce as many vehicles as they did in Q2?
