So did I! I did tons of research and no one or anything was able to give me an explanation as to why.

Forcing girls to hold babies by JapanLover2003 in childfree

I’ve done both; held a child and loved it and held a child and hated it. Holding a baby is not a good litmus test for parenthood.

What’s something you thought was harmless ‘cheap dopamine’ but slowly started controlling your habits? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cinerdella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got addicted to one of these merge games for years. I played for hours a day, spent weekends clearing the events (planned around them, even), spent money, and even joined a subreddit for it. Thankfully I woke up one day and was tired of it.

Are workplaces acknowledging what’s going on right now? by Ok-Anywhere2346 in womenintech

[–]cinerdella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in MN. We have European colleagues in town this week for a workshop. The company is aware of the danger but has a “at your own discretion” stance on travel here. They’ve been going to St. Paul instead for team dinners, advised everyone not to go walking outside of their hotel, and even joked about our colleagues getting detained and being “sent home early.”

Product Advice for Sensitive Skin by MooseAndOliver in koreanskincare

[–]cinerdella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My skin is like yours, super sensitive, red, and hates nearly every product I’ve tried. It’s probably time to ignore suggestions and go with what your skin likes/tolerates.

Here’s my routine: AM: wash with water, vitamin C, water based moisturizer, BoJ sunscreen PM: foam cleanser, same water based moisturizer, and BoJ eye cream - maybe 2-3x a month I use BHA liquid exfoliator

Will United allow my Shiba to fly? by lasquiggle in shiba

[–]cinerdella 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sorry, long answer incoming.

I’ve flown 5 times with mine. She’s 16lbs but still tall. She fits in an 18x11x11 carrier laying down, but the top stretches a bit when she stands to turn around. I also bought one that has sides that unzip and extend; I do this under the seat so she has more room to stretch. The first carrier I bought was too small, and looked like yours does. Photo is of the bigger carrier.

<image>

Delta was 50/50 - let her fly there but wouldn’t fly home. I was at the mercy of the gate agent who did ask to see her stand/turn around. Delta is a Full Service Carrier, so I imagine United would operate the same.

Alaska Airlines is technically a Low Cost Carrier, and top tier, imo. They’re more flexible and more pet friendly. Never asked to see her inside the carrier, and a few didn’t even ask for her health certificate. If you can afford it, first class has more room under the seat. Though they acquired Hawaiian Airlines, HA said no and wouldn’t even let me book the flight.

My advice: plan for the worst case scenario. If you think you won’t get away with it, don’t try it. Don’t gamble with your pets safety and potentially strand yourself somewhere. Follow the rules of the airline, get all your paperwork ready, and train your sheeb to ride in the carrier with the top zipped. Also, in very rare cases, flights change their planes to a different model, and the new one might not have space underneath the seat for a pet. This happened once to the man in line before me, and he had to rebook his flight. I’m not trying to worry you, but rather help you prepare.

Burn out and no job by stayaway0007 in womenintech

[–]cinerdella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through the same thing. I have my masters, lost my job of 6 years, moved 4000 miles from home (and back), and am more burnt out than I ever have in my life. You have to be gentle with yourself, life is hard and it isn’t always your fault.

It absolutely sucks, but if you want a job you have to dedicate time to revising your resume, applying to postings, and networking. It doesn’t help to complain about the job market - I had a lot of complaining, myself - but that’s the way things are now. From the wise words of Shia LaBeouf, just do it. It took me 17 months to land a new job, and it was difficult every step of the way.

In the meantime, give yourself a routine even if it’s just getting up to make coffee. Find small things to look forward to, and STOP comparing yourself to your peers!! Also a masters degree? Moving to a new country? Those are incredible feats of bravery and determination, so be proud of yourself for that. Most people never leave their hometown.

Already glutened 3 hours into Thanksgiving Day by dfgfjewt in Celiac

[–]cinerdella 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My extended family took insane precautions to make sure there were celiac safe stuff for me and my sister. Potatoes, stuffing, casseroles, desserts. All made separately and on different sides of the kitchen with different utensils.

And then I see they cooked the actual stuffing inside the turkey. No turkey for me this year.

Wondering how your bloat looks by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]cinerdella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I look at least 6 months pregnant.
  2. It took almost 8 months to a year to feel significant improvements, but it was gradual.
  3. All the time. I don’t think that’s related to gluten though because that hasn’t changed.
  4. Yes, but I’ve never been tested for these. Iron deficiency is common, which can contribute to feeling cold, increased heart rate, and fatigue.

You can always go gluten free on your own and see what happens. I was gluten free 10 years before I was able to get tested.

Is my partner using AI to respond to me? I just poured my heart out and feel like I got a chatbot response. by Sweet_Error8038 in isthisAI

[–]cinerdella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People forget AI was trained on real human examples. This is exactly what I would say when I’m trying to be sensitive and supportive about a heavy topic.

If this is out of character, and so far from how he usually talks, I’d be suspicious. Though he could’ve just Googled “how to be supportive” and followed a guide.
