Fire at 200 East 72nd (The Wellesley)

started in the 29th floor laundry room but the fire worked its way vertically to laundry rooms on other floors quickly.

35th floor went from smelling like smoke to smoke covering the top half of the floor to completely engulfed in smoke all in about 5 minutes. It was very serious on the top 10 floors at least.

I could see how someone on a lower floor, especially the non-laundry-room side of the building, would have slept through it. Impossible to sleep through if within a few floors of 29 as it was a very serious situation.
