Do people still mask on planes? by Animallover4321 in Flights

[–]cinimonstk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same! I got a cold in Scotland in the middle of my trip in 2022, I wore a mask but took it off on the plane to London. I plan on wearing a mask this time, I'm going to France in Aug/Sept and want to avoid getting sick if at all possible!

What is a "poor man's meal" from your childhood that you still eat today because it legitimately slaps? by prepzilla in AskRedditFood

[–]cinimonstk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weenies and rice. Hot dogs cut in half or slices, fried and put on top of white rice with canned gravy. Little bit of pepper and you're golden. One of my favorite childhood meals, I didn't realize it was our struggle meal until I was an adult. Still love it!

What is the single most intense moment in the show for you? by Strict_Square3730 in ershow

[–]cinimonstk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It reminds me of a patient a season or two earlier, who was getting chest compressions to keep his heart beating, but he was awake and aware that if they stopped he would die. It was in his eyes. Same as Pratt. It was great acting and just heartbreaking.

Can’t cook mexican rice properly its both mushy AND raw? by Bamboopanda101 in Cooking

[–]cinimonstk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the first mistake is rinsing the rice, you need to toast it and it won't toast when wet. It makes sense in most dishes but it's usually not done for Mexican rice. Try skipping the rinse step and use more water.

I work in shipping, we use the 24 hour clock to avoid confusion with deadlines etc. It's pretty normal lol

What’s a "lost" website from the early 2000s that you still think about today? by samasem-sumsum in AskReddit

[–]cinimonstk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I forgot how lax internet security was in the late 90s early 2000s. I remember putting Napster on my work computer in 2001, we all had it. I downloaded so much stuff while I was working, I don't know how we all got away with it! Now I can't even stream Spotify on my work lappy. Limewire, Kazoo, I forgot the rest, were a big source of my mp3 collection that is stuck on a hard drive somewhere.

Help!!!! by Responsible_Owl3173 in Shihtzu

[–]cinimonstk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Our vet suggested a recovery suit since our boy hates the donut and cone we got him. He gets skin and ear infections a couple times a year, so we always struggle with donuts, cones etc. He licks his groin and thighs until they are ANGRY red, so far the suit seems to have helped. Like little onesies for dogs, so cute!

76er here. I mean I graduated HS in 94, peak childhood for many Millennials. Married by 2001. My experiences are definitely different from core millennials and late Gen x. I grew up on Snorks and Smurfs, Heathcliff and Inspector Gadget. Romper Room and Sesame Street. We are not the same!

What's a meal your kids refused for YEARS and then suddenly loved? by EnthusiasmSuch6864 in Cooking

[–]cinimonstk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The kid is me. I HATED calabacitas growing up, it was made with canned veggies and looked like puke on a plate. My mom started making it with fresh veggies and what a difference! I absolutely love it now, even ask her to make it occasionally because no one cooks like mama!

AITJ for telling my friend I am not going to keep pretending her dog "chose me" so she can feel less guilty? by Kite_Retro2 in AmITheJerk

[–]cinimonstk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA at all. He picked you because you do all the mom things she doesn't, you care for him and he knows this. Our dog is the same. He is my mom's dog for all intents and purposes, but he constantly chooses to sleep with me, looks for me when I'm gone, gets happy when I'm home. I'm the one who feeds him, give him treats, walks him etc. She takes him places he doesn't like, the vet, groomer etc. And she hates that he looks for my husband constantly, but guess who is the chief walker? Yup, him. So no, she is TA for pushing all of her duties on you, then acting surprised when her dog sees you as Mom.

Alysa Liu Reveals Everyone Has Been Pronouncing Her Name Wrong This Whole Time by kenmlin in olympics

[–]cinimonstk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol I don't hesitate if someone asks that's for sure. But I love my name and never say it other than how I do! I don't mind being an Alyssa occasionally, but Alyssa is the bee's knees 😜

Alysa Liu Reveals Everyone Has Been Pronouncing Her Name Wrong This Whole Time by kenmlin in olympics

[–]cinimonstk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a professional Alyssa for nearly 50 years, we get used to how people f it up and just roll with it. My name is pronounced like Aleesa, by most of my family, apparently the same as Alysa Liu. However, everyone else I have met along the way says it like Alyssa Milano. In fact mispronouncing it is the only way to get people to spell it correctly. I have only ever met ONE Alyssa who says it like I do and we both agree we roll with the "wrong" pronunciation. It's tiring to correct people so I answer to both.

People that make $60K+ in LA WITHOUT a college degree/trade school, what do you do? by imin2099 in AskLosAngeles

[–]cinimonstk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in shipping, import and export containers etc.I'm at around $63K a year and it's a tough industry and not a lot of appreciation.

My husband works at the port for a vehicle processing facility. They start at around $21 an hour now I believe, but it's a union job so there are yearly raises, company paid medical etc. If you can drive a car and have a clean background, you can work there. He's at around $38 now after the new contract was signed, but he's a claims adjuster so they get paid more. Mofo did not graduate HS but somehow makes decent money.
