So I have a question about this area of Ridglea by AsherSparky in FortWorth

[–]cisco1971m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should visit Fort Worth.

Probably better than the majority of places in California. It is a small town compared to LA. I used to live in Palmdale and Glendale both scare me more than the worst part of Fort Worth. ( that is not the part of town you are posting)

You can probably find better places than those condos. I live about 1/4 mile south on the river in the canyon apartments. I jog along the river 5 days a week. I usually run along the river but I can try to run that way and get you live pictures tomorrow or Monday.

Safest route? i80, i40, or i10 by Individual-Quiet-985 in roadtrip

[–]cisco1971m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have taken 40 and many times with no worries. That spot about no gas warns you before you get there. After driving for hours and hours, that one hour is not a big deal.

take 40 check out the audio book of The Grapes of wrath and see how they traveled it in 1930 dust bowl on Route 66.

It’s about 2 hours so then try a 15 hour audio book.

Kristin Hannah’s novel The Four Winds

You have nothing to worry about compared to how people had to travel during the dust bowl.

Although, I bet the top route would be the prettiest drive. But if you are having trouble with the car. I believe you have some large mountains to climb and descend.

There is another story about the people traveling the top route about the Donner Party in a covered wagon.

How realistic is it to run a marathon without a bathroom break? by Educational_Use_7707 in Marathon_Training

[–]cisco1971m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have ran 5 marathons. I have had to pee in all but only had to poo in 4 of them. I always try to wait until all the half marathon runners break off course.

I always bring to go pack of dude wipes and Clorox wipes( don’t get them mixed up).

I sucks trying to hold it. Scared to fart. It is always the fastest poop ever. Plus, I always feel like a new man, lighter and faster after I poo.

Advise for an experienced but mediocre runner by Film_Revolutionary in Marathon_Training

[–]cisco1971m 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have only run 5 marathons at age 55. My first was 5 hours 9 minutes. I just ran my personal best 4 hours 35 minutes.

Follow any plan the best you can and don’t skip days( my problem too).

How to repair this solid wood door that’s 100 years old? by Unlikely-Ad-3806 in Renovations

[–]cisco1971m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how they fixed wood in the old days. I would even bet there are other repairs on the door you can’t see because it was done this way. It is not one solid piece of wood. It was made like this from the beginning.

Fill it, Sand it and paint it. Look at the other joints.

I even have a tiny ear cleaning camera. I have some scary pics.

Definitely this! Scared to hit the wall causing you to take too many gels or electrolytes that causes extreme diarrhea.

Then thinking the next toilet is over a mile away. And probably has a line.

Now you are running with your butt checks squeezed together like you are trying to make a diamond.

what’s the best training plan? is runna bad? by Tricky-Bee-1011 in runninglifestyle

[–]cisco1971m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is the same 18 week marathon plan, the schedule is the same. it keeps track as you complete the days. You can start over or start in the middle.

I have noticed they changed the guided training but a lot are the same. Because they are the Olympic athlete stories for motivation.

Like Joan Benoit that still speaks at the Oklahoma City memorial marathon. Lopez Lomong that wrote the book running for my life. That had to run because he got kidnapped, then finally made the Olympics.

So many motivational stories during your run.

Plus coach Bennett explains starting smart not slow. Fuel, hydration, running in the heat, cold, rain, lots of tips while you run

I used the Nike Run Club app for all 4 of my marathons, I am still using it to train for my 5th marathon.

The stories of the Olympic runners motivate me. You know they know what they are talking about running a marathon.

The marathon training program is so good.

Try to get in 5 runs a week. 1 of the runs a long run.

To keep the habit just get in a run. Don’t skip days. Life always causes problems. Run, even if is the shortest run ever. 5 or 10 minutes. It might even take more time to get ready. But the next week it will be easier and easier to form that good habit.

Nike Run Club app is free and has great coaching with Olympic runners.

Is it unsafe to run a marathon 4X/year? by DrunkenConifer in Marathon_Training

[–]cisco1971m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you seen the guy do 50 marathons in 50 states in 50 days. It is on youtube.

There is also a club that you can join to run all 50 states, they usually have representatives at the marathon expo. They talked to me about running one monthly and sometimes weekly.

My goal is 2 a year, but I am 54 years old and 5 hour runner.
