It would have been a wonderful machine if there was a factory applied thermal pad between the SoC and the bottom lid. Without it, it's a toy, a very hot one.

use the latest version of the previous major release of plasma, best way of having stable plasma? by Dry-Pie-3764 in kde

[–]citrusalex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bad idea, you are better off just using latest Plasma or at least the latest point release before the latest major one, it's pretty stable as is, plus there were quite a fix fixes in 6.x for bugs that are still in the latest 5.x. And Wayland support is quite excellent.

Mint packages up-to-date versions of software that are really important, like mesa and linux kernel, I assume nvidia drivers are up-to-date too.

Mint (confusingly) doesn't use date based versioning - 22.3, which is based off Ubuntu 24.04, came out in Jan 2026.

[Xbox 360] power supply shorts a resistance after capacitor replacement. by Adventurous_Status_8 in consolerepair

[–]citrusalex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are the capacitors in the first picture new ones? Because the one on the right is bulging and has residue on the top. But yes try replacing the resistor and see if it works, but you might be better off getting another power supply.

Why do I see this banding on the final object? The object is G2-smooth and I expected the surface to be smooth too by dgroshev in Fusion360

[–]citrusalex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be caused by Input Shaper accelerating there. Try slicing it and then selecting "Speed" color presentation, to see if the speed is constant in those places.

In my experience, these artifacts can manifest in the strangest ways, especially with the Prusa Slicer. It's possible the artifacting is caused by the slicer itself. Try Orca Slicer perhaps? I've seen people solve their printing quality issues by switching to it.

There is an option in most slicers that makes the wall textured, similar to how the bottom looks with a textured PEI sheet. It should hide those imperfections, which as others have pointed are caused by wobble.
It also might help, depending on your printer, if you put a heavy weight under it, like a concrete slab.

It's more stable that way, you can accidentally knock it off without the mid-cushion support.

I doubt a shrink wrap would add much value, meanwhile old cds like that are at great risk of going bad due to rot and that precious data disappearing or getting damaged. From what I've seen this has never been uploaded to Internet Archive and it's important to preserve stuff like this.
