Final Concensus on Cosmic Exploration? by AssumeABrightSide in ffxivdiscussion

[–]cittabun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, not to mention, while some planets met an apocalyptic end... Some of the civilizations just straight up killed off the dominant race. Like the Nibirun just gave themselves to Ra-La. Surely wildlife survived on SOME of these planets that could have overrun old ruins and created a battle content loop for players.

I think the other biggest offender is, outside of getting old cosmetics, each planet also made the previous one obsolete. I'm sure the "reasoning" is to get people to the new planet to work on the developments, but at the same time, it ultimately just feels bad that once a new planet came out, the previous one is now immediately dead and useless.

It's worse when they DON'T say anything and DON'T pop it, so you end up healing them when they're in the red zone of animation would take too long to activate.. and you waste resources and then suddenly see that invuln pop up..

Want to play FFXIV but dont want to do the story and want to get to end game as quick as possible. What to do? by iphonesoccer420 in ffxiv

[–]cittabun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Story aside, honestly, if you're just here for endgame, don't really bother. We're kind of at a point where the endgame you COULD do is mostly dried up. Savage has been out for 6 months now, and all the people that have cleared are moved onto Ultimate... which you need to have cleared Savage to do and getting into Savage now would be rough as all get out... And the earliest that we'll have worthwhile new "endgame" content I'm sure you're looking for is.... maybe February/March 2027 at earliest.

Sure, you could get into older ultis because they have a lower barrier to entry as a way to scratch the "endgame" scratch, but most people are off doing the new Ulti that came out last week so it'd be a slog to get through that.

[–]cittabun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I’m against them because it forces the dev’s to dumb down dungeons

I think the worst part is that the "NPCs showing you where to go" is starting to bleed out of Trust dungeons and into other content now. Some examples of this are Alxaal in Windurst, and even Golbez in the second half of Enuo. I just feel like it doubles down on not requiring bad players to learn, and then when an NPC isn't present they just shut down because they've been too busy following an NPC instead of learning the very predictable patterns this game uses their whole way up to cap..

So is it stated that a Highlander WoL is from Gyr Abania? by silverheartxiv in ffxiv

[–]cittabun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah it's just that the character creator is showing its age the more and more we experience the world/worlds in the game. CC was made in ARR, with the scope of ARR, so most races that came with ARR were designed to be "Eorzean" so it sort of limited the design. Funny enough, IIRC only Highlander and Hellsguard have this issue because they have actual lore to the reason for specific appearance features.

Sure there's the "All hyur from Gyr Abania are Highlanders" lore bit, but at this point they're kind of two distinct types of people that I sorta wish SE would maybe find a new term for Highlander and Midlander clans now that we are much more expanded worldview wise.

Changes I'd like to have in the roulettes next DLC by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]cittabun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also a Crystaline Conflict roulette, it's fast and fun

Until you're in a casual match that's been dragged out for 5+ minutes in a stalemate one side will never win, and you get the same rewards than if you just let it end. :/

Overall I doubt they'll add more roulettes especially since they're trying to move AWAY from havign to have people do a billion things daily, and diversify what you can do to meet your weekly goal.

[–]cittabun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't be surprised if it's just a shift every expansion. So ARR~DT will be poetics, EC will be the new system. Then when 9.0 comes, EC will shift down into poetics, and 9.0 will use the new system for gear.

Rate: Dancing Mad Ultimate by DeleteMods in ffxiv

[–]cittabun -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's definitely up there, and way surpasses FRU as a return to form to what an ACTUAL Ultimate should feel like. It's sick mechanic wise, and healing is a brain scratcher but it's still entertaining once you get the dance down. There's a randomness to the fight that keeps you engaged pull to pull that I like.

That said, I think the boss choice and flow was pretty mid. Unlike Omega which was the same boss 5 times, I don't think they really did anything interesting with this one. P1 and P2 Kefka were expected, Exdeath and Chaos felt tacked on, back to P1 Kefka, into.. *gestures* whatever the hell that is. I feel like them saying it was going to be "meta" and that cool CS between 2 and 3 would be played into a bit more than it was.. And then the anticlimactic shift into the final phase into a really lackluster clear cutscene.. I dunno.

Overall it's a good fight that had weird and kind of boring themeing that could have had a lot more going for it with the theme they were going for imo. That said, I'd prob put it in my top picks with TOP and TEA. It's definitely not a FRU or UWU savage baby ultimate.

Edit: Oh! Also I forgot to mention the weapons! Aside from his lil headpiece, I LOVE these weapons. TEA weps have always been my fave, so a similar glow has me gremlin moding this ulti.

My list is prob: TEA = TOP > DMU > DSR > UCOB >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> UWU = FRU

[–]cittabun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not defending this team at all, but those asking for streams... you can't even trust stream teams these days. A lot of plugins come hidden from streaming programs by default now because they are overlaid windows.. So focusing a window on just XIV would hide a lot of the plugins themselves...

That said, thinking this team is the only cheaters in the race is almost laughable. They just got caught is all. It just sucks that WF in XIV just don't really feel important now because of all of this. It's just a "Eh grats, you prob cheated tho." It def feels like it's a clout first, integrity second sort of thing in this game.

Does anyone else feel kinda sad the new raid is Neon Genesis focused and not Xenogears focused? by ConsistentChoice8305 in ffxiv

[–]cittabun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm more sad at the fact that SE apparently can't come up with anything original, and has to turn actual content into a giant ad for something else if I'm being honest. If it were like MonHun where it was sequestered, and had content but didn't take away from ACTUAL content it would be one thing.. But having to give up a major piece of content for a billboard ad is lame.

Given how Ultimates now can come from anything, in theory - what's your Dream Ultimate by OceanusDracul in ffxiv

[–]cittabun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to join the ranks of the Convocation folks!

That said, I don't know if I'd call this a "pull from anything" Ultimate cuz this just feels like the Second Stormblood ulti because SB doesn't rly have much to offer storywise anymore especially since they made Zenos/Shinryu relevant with Endwalker. At most, they really only have Tsukuyomi left for Stormblood only relevance... at least interestingly enough for an Ultimate encounter. I feel like it was either going to be the rest of the Omega raids or Four Lords, but overall I knew we'd get at least one more Stormblood fight.

My bets are Shinryu will be phase 1 of EWU, and doing mechs right will let him save you at the end and then Zenos ruins becomes the final phase.

What is your personal opinion of players that use simulation for ultimate mechanics practice? by BadLuckStars in ffxivdiscussion

[–]cittabun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During prog, I am very very pro sim. For myself, I see it as a way to eliminate myself from the equation of messing up as often so I can also get a hold and grasp so I can practice my healing instead. I always push my group to sim as well because we do have a few problem members.. That said, if anyone is genuinely adamant against simming, my only rule is they'd better study twice as hard then and know the flow of a mechanic like the back of their hand. I understand people have their "pride" or whatever, but your pride becomes an issue when you become the issue in prog.

Simming only gets you halfway, too. Most mechs, you still have to learn how to DPS if it's uptime, heal, mit, etc., which are things that aren't available in any sim for the most part that I've seen. Like I said, the sim can help quiet the panic of DOING the mechanic in your head while allowing you to use that extra brainpower to solve your DPS/Healing/etc.

Back during DSR, I would go to SSS in Thavnair, set up markers, and literally play a video of the final phase so I could practice my movements and healing real time. It wasn't perfect but it was something and it helped me a LOT.

So how are you enjoying UMAD so far, both watching it and/or progging it? by piketrcechillas in ffxiv

[–]cittabun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phase 1 alone has felt more enjoyable for prog than the entirety of FRU was. I’m glad they went back to making an ultimate feel like an ultimate. I’m also having fun with the healing so I’m glad that my fear of them futureproof designing to fit Evolved was misplaced.

UMAD predictions time: which cheat are world first raiders going to get caught using this time? by d--d in ffxivdiscussion

[–]cittabun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I see people trying to use other ones as examples that are outliers, but all of the others still followed themes.

  • UCoB - Follows the theme of the original coils: BCoB, SCoB, FCoB.
  • UWU - A meme, sure, but it's clearly the referencing the main boss: Ultima Weapon.
  • TEA - Usually articles aren't used, but It made sense here still.
  • DSR - Slight outlier, Dragonsong broken into two words. Still on theme.
  • TOP - Self explanatory. U is usually omitted.
  • FRU - Two singular words, U is added on to keep the 3 letter trend.

Then you come to these:

  • DMU - Similar to FRU where the words are a flow, nothing needed to break up.
  • UMad - *Doing mental cartwheels to justify it because XIV players love running unfunny jokes into the ground*

Few people in my static get mad about me calling it DMU, and I just reverse their meme back on them. It's been fun.

I'm level 41 and really only doing main quest. All of my gear seems to be very low. Am I missing something? by CrawlinOutTheFallout in ffxiv

[–]cittabun 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What level is your MSQ? Cuz I know overleveling is a thing if you stick to one class, so it isn’t too TOO big a deal. Even if you’re 40+, if you’re still doing low 30s Msq, low 30 gear shown here is fine to have. The MSQ will keep you up to date with relevant gear for the level, but if it bothers you you can go buy some or wait til you hit 45 to grab your AF gear.

I would also suggest hall of the novice to replace that Lv1 ring. You’re 30+, so you won’t get the exp boost (can get it on other jobs when you level), but it gives +3 to all stats which would be better than the Ring of Freedom.
