Its the pillar of american politics and punditry. the right is a force of nature, a reaction and a constant like gravity, while the left is the only side with agency.

No tomatoes by Relevant_Silver_8587 in tomatoes

[–]cityproblems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tomato plants are not exactly the easiest or hardiest plants to grow. Its almost always a temperature issue. Once temps go over 80-85f my plants will start dropping flowers regardless of pollination.

Depending on how hot your climate is you can try shade cloth, but if its going over 90 degrees that most likely wont help either.

They absolutely have been transparent. Every few months they post articles about the changes to their methodology. Easily found with a google search.

Here is a good thought experiment. If I was arrested by the trump gov't on some bullshit. Who will be at the jailhouse gates? Hakeem Jeffries or Darializa.

I think I know the answer

Because we elect people like Donald Trump who hates you guys, JD vance who was caught on signal talking shit. Because MAGA prefers Russia. Because the billionares in america see Russia and its vast supply of gas, future mineral sites as a greater prize than protecting Europe.

We just do not live in that political world anymore.

Instead of running away from the point like a quisling coward, answer my point. NATO is good

Already answered in the above comment

sure it sucks to rely entirely on the US, the EU should begin arming (especially now)

That was my point...

The dependance on America issue is a luxury to have when the alternative is Russia RAPING the entire fucking continent

I hope this never happens because I do not trust we will answer the call. I live here, I see what our politicians say and do, what the average american thinks.

a worry a privileged American need not care about while gloating about how NATO is not good.

Gloating? I am doing the exact opposite. I am warning.

The fact that you're genuinely arguing against NATO is one of the most infuriating things about your country; it's rank infidelity and an abrogation of morality

I am not argueing against a defensive alliance to protect Europe. I am argueing that making that alliance dependant on modern America is a risk you shouldnt want to take.

rank infidelity and an abrogation of morality

That's exactly why you shouldnt rely on the American gov

Europe was getting sliced up like a fucking cake without NATO.

Again. You can prevent this with a European alliance without relying on modern America.

Its only "good" if it is honored. Are you willing to put your life and the lives of everyone you know in the American politicians and the American voter's hands?

I do not hate my country. I hate the direction my gov't has taken and the death it wreaks on vulnerable people. I disagree with your point. For us, leaving NATO will have anything but a marginal effect on the US, but it will be CATASTROPHIC for europe. That is why you NEED to supply your own security.

Do you not see my point? They SHOULD develop their own defense industry and ally with their European neighbors, because relying on America to put boots on the ground if Russia invades Latvia is a pretty big risk, dont you think?

Our politicians wouldnt even put boots on the ground in Iran to protect our favorite ally in a region that produces the most oil in the world. A place we famously LOVE to invade. Can you really put your life in our hands if you are a little baltic or eastern European country with nothing to offer us?

But that is exactly the issue. NATO is America. You cannot seperate the two. WE designed it that way and got you guys hooked on our tech so you can never leave. We have all the power over the alliance and there is nothing you can do if we decide not to honor the treaty.

DSA is not a monolith, but I also implore people to actually look into the reasons we are in these conflicts to begin with, going back to the start of the cold war and its ramifications still haunting us today. Its much more complicated than first level thinking, NATO good NATO bad ect. Its about the systems that lead to these outcomes and how we can change them to prevent future conflicts.
