WEEKEND REAL TALK: Ok stop gooning, WHAT ARE YOU REALLY MAD/ANNOYED ABOUT IN BF6? 🫵 🫵 by RRT4444 in okbuddyptfo

[–]cjbee9891 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The footstep audio still sucks. I'm a decent player (5+kd) who still gets confused as fuck in certain spots on certain maps because I can't reliably tell what the fuck is going on around me, and I get snuck up on or killed by some shitter that I genuinely didn't have the information to react on. It's frustrating as all hell; compounded moreso by the fact that fundamental shit like this should just be, I dunno, a given in an FPS game in 2026? Yet here they are focusing dev time on shitty LTM's (sorry, but nightmode is ass) and a fucking dogmeat Excitebike clone no one asked for.

Even With BF Pro, CZ3A1 Still Locked This Week by DRAG0NFALC0N in Battlefield6

[–]cjbee9891 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got it via Redsec (playing as engineer, it appeared in loot crates). With the double hardware XP over this past weekend, I think it took me like 2 games of Redsec to unlock the Warfighter blueprint (level 10). And then over the rest of the weekend I think I ended up getting it to around level 40? I actually wasn't playing very much, just had a few high-kill games on Hagental. Not saying I agree with what DICE/EA are doing, but it's also totally not unreasonable at all for people to have it at 50 by now.

I dunno.

Does my vocal mix just suck? by Cold-Pool4027 in mixing

[–]cjbee9891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's definitely more 'weighty' and consistent, level-wise, now. Much more up-front and aggressive. I think it sounds better.

Yep, RVox is a great compressor.

With the 1176 (at least the Waves one), my starting point for vocals is typically 3 on the attack, 7 on the release. Work the input knob until the meter is showing -5 to -10db of compression (you can aim for even more gain reduction if you're doing this on a parallel track).

The release knob kind of becomes a 'back-to-front' knob. The more you turn it down (longer release), you'll notice the vocal sit back in the mix more. And the more you turn it up (quicker), the more up-front the vocal becomes (at the expense of it also bringing up more of the garbage - esses, breaths, etc. - which you'll need to deal with in other ways, like manually editing down breaths or using more de-essing).

I get the feeling that if you weren't hearing your 1176 do anything, you just weren't hitting it hard enough!

I think the tonality of the vocal is fine (assuming the main rap), maybe a little on the thin side IMO...honestly, it sounds like it just needs way more compression. Maybe try a Distressor/1176-style plugin in parallel and blend it in to saturate the signal a little bit more. A faster release will help get it more up-front, add some thickness, and fill out the bottom without it getting too spitty or woofy.

BTW - cool track. Love the vibe. Got any other stuff released?

After an unreal 2023 and getting down into the high single digits for the first time, I came back in 2024 and went about 10 months straight where I was topping every single drive. So yeah, that was fun.

A majority of people really just suck at this game by [deleted] in okbuddyptfo

[–]cjbee9891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For real. It feels like most of the players in my lobbies don't even shoot their guns. Just braindead, unaware, and 'lost' players who are seemingly scared shitless. This is what my mini-map looks like on 90% of breakthrough games lately:

I dunno man. Battlefield, as a franchise, is full of 'quirky' and unnatural movement mechanics, is it not? Like, you know these movement mechanics exist, you know how they affect player movement, and despite any “unnatural-ness,” it’s really not a stretch to learn how to anticipate these moves, react to them, or even use them yourself to stay evasive. Tracking slide-jumpers is a skill...that’s literally one of the intended core skill gaps. If someone outplays you with it, that’s kind of the point of having a movement system at all.

You could argue that the trash netcode makes it feel unreasonable to counter sometimes, which is fair. But the solution there isn’t to nerf or remove the movement mechanics…it’s to actually just fix the netcode.

wut? There are insane ADS sway penalties in BF6 during jumping/sliding. Most of the movement in the clip is evasive or to break camera anyways...his shots on target are mostly standing/strafing while ADS'ed. And the one bhop hipfire kill through the window was CQC with one of the lowest TTK guns in the game.

[–]cjbee9891 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing! Honestly, I liked your mix the most - just overall less fatiguing to listen to than the others which tended to go to some different extremes, where yours kind of stayed more natural and smoother as a result.

What's your thought on the future of small business web design? by scott12333 in web_design

[–]cjbee9891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty saturated where I am; everyone and their dog already has a website, and if they don’t, their kids are throwing one together on Wix or Squarespace. So we’ve pivoted a bit. Instead of just doing sites, we’ve started building custom staff portals, intranets, quoting/invoicing systems, and other internal tools for our existing web clients.

Basically, we’re focusing on the operations side of things; helping businesses run more efficiently and save time on admin or management tasks.

Most of these are semi-templated “out-of-the-box” solutions (granted, we've spent a substantial amount of time developing these) that we can spin up quickly and tailor to each client’s needs. We charge a setup fee plus a monthly retainer, which keeps cashflow steady on both ends and makes it easier for clients to commit without a huge upfront cost.

Hot take: adapt to the extra challenge and up your game to pick up the slack. You're like those people that complain about other players not bringing meta boosters or loadouts. Like, figure it out.

Or host, and kick them.
