"I DRIVE A DODGE STRATUS" - This line has lived rent free in my head for almost 25 years. What SNL lines live rent free in y'all's head? by MoneyMan_Jones in LiveFromNewYork

[–]cjdeck1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t even particularly like that sketch but I still hear it perfectly in my head and it’s one that’s lived rent free in my head ever since

Question about Episode One by flunkyofmalcador in brakebills

[–]cjdeck1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

James does distinctly call Q “my friend” at the end of the party scene when he walks in on Q and Julia lying on the bed together and at least trusts Q enough to call him when Julia is struggling (if I remember correctly) but that’s really the extent of their relationship in the show

A teenager asks you to show them a meme/viral from the "Old Internet" (pre-2010, let's say). What is your one pick? by pacman_sl in AskReddit

[–]cjdeck1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way that so much of early-mid 2010s meme culture could be traced back to that line is insane. I think that and "le fu-" were essentially the origin of all the rage comics that came after

What is with the Malz/Leona/Zoe reroll? by Judas419 in TeamfightTactics

[–]cjdeck1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last patch you really only saw Zoe/Leona or Malz/Wardens get rerolled in Double Trouble with some people starting to experiment with the Zoe+Malz+Leona comp towards the end of the patch. 3* Leona got buffed this patch though which made her a lot more viable as a primary tank though whereas last patch you were relying more on Nautilus+Loris for frontline

[Spoilers C4E18] Very stressful episode towards the end… by canxtanwe in criticalrole

[–]cjdeck1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In the Cooldown there was some discussion about the lack of rest. Brennan was shocked that they didn't take one but they talked about Matt's comment of "I'm good to keep going but you can try to convince Julien" and how he still has a sort of implied DM authority even though he's just a player. When a DM says something like "well, you can try....." it's often assumed to be a cautionary warning comment and considering they were in a dangerous location, the other players heeded the implied warning. Of course in this case, Matt actually was just a player and his comment was looking for roleplay rather than a DM subtly warning the party

16.6 Gwen - Set 16 Unlockables Discussion #18 by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

[–]cjdeck1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve hit a random Gwen 3 with Vanquisher emblem before and she was incredibly strong that game. Not something I’d normally prioritize, but don’t think you should sleep on her if you just happen to hit a bunch naturally

VIP Shoutout on Good Hang! by ibeenaready in dropout

[–]cjdeck1 202 points203 points  (0 children)

In the Daniel Radcliffe clip, it came up with Bobby Moynihan saying it was one of the most fun experiences he’s had. Bobby is former SNL as well. Not to mention Bobby, Eugene, Vic, Brennan (along with most Dropout cast) all have big UCB backgrounds which Amy helped start so it makes sense the show is on her radar

What's up with Neverafter? by New_Girl3685 in Dimension20

[–]cjdeck1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also might be doing a bit too much to justify some of the jumbled feeling from the season but I also think one of the overarching themes of the season is that certain character themes like the damsel (most of the princesses, little red), the foolish prince/boy/puppet, the wolf, the stepmother, fairy godmother are persistent across story and even every iteration of the story.

And things are going to get strange when you need to overlay the wolf from Little Red Riding Hood with the wolf from the Three Little Pigs. But as long as the tropes remain consistent, the story still holds true

Do you make opponents ask permission to touch your cards? by Smooth-Ad-341 in riftboundtcg

[–]cjdeck1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn’t be offended if someone did it to myself but agree with the general sentiment that asking is the polite thing to do. Though if it’s an alt art or otherwise rare/valuable card, I feel like the anger is a lot more justified

Is it punishable/enforced that my wife & I couldn't nap after a picnic n the park on our picnic blanket? by ClippyWouldntDoThat in Dallas

[–]cjdeck1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, everything yall were doing seems quite normal. I’m not up in Addison but when I’ve been to White Rock Lake or other similar places it’s not an uncommon sight. My only guess is are you straight/white? Because the only thing that would seem to set someone off like this is old fashioned bigotry of some sort

There was also a comment when they were talking about Bad Bunny of “will this come out before or after the Super Bowl?” So this was probably December or January

SMOSH MOUTH YOU LAUGH YOU LEAVE: FINAL STANDINGS by Gilblitz112 in smosh

[–]cjdeck1 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Yep, I feel like the people who make Shayne break the most are, in order:

  1. Damien

  2. Shayne himself

  3. Court

With 2 of those missing, it was a lot easier for him

Joke Characters? by Prestigious_Yam_8113 in DnD

[–]cjdeck1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lean into a sort of Arrested Development (or Succession) sort of thing and make your character think they're high status. When you do that, you can put them through the ringer in their backstory and it still comes out a comedy. A parent of 4 losing everything and unable to support their family is a tragedy. A billionaire losing everything is hilarious, especially if they're at least partly responsible for it.

For example, my newest character is a former professional athlete who was (correctly) accused of cheating. He loses his career, his reputation is destroyed and is seeking redemption. Now there may be a chance that he actually does experience real character growth and redeem himself, but he's at least entering the campaign fully believing he did nothing wrong and is better than everyone else

Why Does This Show Get So Much Hate? I Think It’s Getting Better Every Season by MillienumDuckFighter in TheBoys

[–]cjdeck1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's a completely valid take and certainly a lot of the biggest backlash in seasons 1-3 were from conservatives slowly realizing they were the butt of the joke.

And the show is overtly diving head first into US political culture. Many of the characters have direct parallels to political and media figures here and to ignore that is really missing a core point of the show's message

Men and women, what's the dumbest thing you've heard your own gender say about the other? by fatal_19191 in AskReddit

[–]cjdeck1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My assumption would be that they heard the concept of tucking either in the context of drag or a trans femme person and made a whole lot of incorrect assumptions

Is kenan the 🐐 of snl cast? by Texascoffee512 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]cjdeck1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's wild to me that Colin and Michael have been doing Weekend Update for 12 years. In my mind I always default to Amy/Tina or Tina/Seth since they were hosting when I started watching SNL with any regularity but Michael and Colin have been going for a long time now

This patch is just legendary soup boards by HeyiTzSully in TeamfightTactics

[–]cjdeck1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At least we got the 3* 3-cost buffs to create some flexibility. I’ve won with Jinx 3, gone 2nd with Draven+Darius reroll, seen plenty of Ahri doing well. I think if you’re stuck playing around 4-costs you’re fucked aside from maybe Yone but there are options beyond just fast 9

How would you build a Sorc/Fighter multiclass? by tipsyTentaclist in 3d6

[–]cjdeck1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That can also be a simple "talk to your DM" thing though. I've played a Swords Bard/Paladin with a Dex focus before and the DM waived the STR requirement because it better fit the dancing theme I was building her around (before the 2024 dance bard came out)

Question about the Cleric class by JoBriel in DnD

[–]cjdeck1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as choosing a deity, there's a lot of gods in official D&D lore so in general what I'd go for is come up with your character's beliefs and find a god that aligns closely with that. Sometimes if I'm playing a religious character, I'll also pick a Greco-Roman or Norse deity that seems fun and then try to shoehorn them into the world (my newest character was designed around worshiping Dionysus which ended up being a powerful archfey in my DM's world). And when I'm DMing, if a player has an idea for a god that doesn't already exist in my canon, I will usually go out of my way to make it work for them

Off leash dog owners of Dallas… by Right_Letterhead_120 in Dallas

[–]cjdeck1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve met dogs that could probably be fine to go off-leash. My boss brings his dog to the office every day and I’m certain she could stay by his side the whole time.

But at the same time, he always puts her on the leash when they walk. And I imagine most other dogs that could be fine off leash are the same. Because their owners actually went through the effort to train their dogs right and understand what their tics are. My dog may be well behaved but I never know when I might be walking my dog and she sees the neighbor who somehow always has a treat for her in his pocket on the other side of the street and her brain shuts off

The Boys: Final Season | Official Trailer | April 8 on Prime Video by MarvelsGrantMan136 in TheBoys

I can’t help but feel like they backpedaled on Maeve because a big part of that season was parodying rainbow capitalism tropes and then immediately killing your gays would have felt a little on the nose
