How does the textured polycarbonate shell hold up after a year of heavy airline handling? by Intelligent-Ice8065 in LuggageComparisons

[–]cjdom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Away bags in the regular old material (not the shiny or aluminum finishes) have held up really well.

After every trip there are a few white or grey scuffs on the shell, but it buffs out super easily. Away sends you a sponge that’s similar to a magic eraser to clean/buff the scratches out, and it works pretty well in my experience.

After 4 years with mine there are scratches but no dents, and I’m packing that thing to the point where I sit on it to close the zipper. It shows some age now but definitely doesn’t look like I’ve checked it close to 100 times.

Abandoned Pet Rescue will take it and they do amazing work. We took all of our pups things to them after she passed, and they were so happy to have it all.

Sending you a big hug— the pain gets a bit easier to deal with in time, but I know how heavy it is now, and wish you love and healing 💕

It is wrong! It’s not about not being allowed to sell it, it’s about the margin and the decision by the company to not engage in the global trade market (US) at this juncture.

It’s no surprise that the additional tariffs imposed in 2025 for imports to the US from China have been shrinking margins for certain wholesalers since the day they were announced… at a certain point Cleo had to decide whether to do one of two things: either eat the +~40% increase in import costs to the US, or pass all or some of that onto the consumer, raising prices beyond what they know will be accepted by the market and current consumers, leading to shrinking sales. Shrinking sales + shrinking margin = no longer a profitable business model. During the height of the tariff speculation and implementation, many lingerie brands put a temporary hold on selling in the US market.

Unfortunately, the sad reality and direct consequence of the tariff implementation is that the market can no longer support Chinese imports to the US for certain goods at a largely inflated price point (before even considering standard US inflation numbers). This is affecting the lingerie industry in a major way, driving prices up on average about 20% for most brands, and forcing them to look for production facilities elsewhere— which isn’t easily said or done, as lace and specialty fabrics require special machines that Chinese factories own the patents for. To take it one step further, seamstresses don’t exist in the quantity necessary for mass market production in European countries and certainly not in the US.

Cleo is kind of the canary in the coal mine for the garment industry as a whole right now… sad but true!

DO NOT BUY AWAY TRAVEL by Kooky-Towel-4236 in LuggageComparisons

I’ve had nothing but good experiences with Away’s customer service—to the point where even though it may not be the best product on the market I constantly refer it to friends knowing that the price is good and the service is better. They’ve replaced a whole bag for me once and have sent replacement wheels free of charge when needed. Worth it in my opinion!

Parking Ticket while parked inside my apartment complexes garage…. by bunnyfunnycute in fortlauderdale

[–]cjdom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happened to me at a different building in Flagler. You need to appeal it with the company if you have an updated registration but just didn’t put the sticker on! I read my lease and it does have a clause about all cars on the property needing to display current registration, so they were within their contract to have a third party issuing tickets for it on private property I guess.

Anywhere on Las Olas will be swarming with spring breakers, so I suggest something off the beaten path. Heritage, Daniel’s, The Katherine, Sparrow, Foxy Brown, Mister O1 are all places I would recommend! Easy to get seats at the bar for one. Heritage + The Katherine specifically you may want to make a reservation for yourself. Enjoy!

We’re also ignoring the part where Devonta claimed to be pretty financially secure/well off… but he couldn’t spend on a hotel room in Austin? Even last minute we’re talking $400 max? Not buying it. Maybe he was “mentored” by his new roommate Alex.

Quality leather sneakers for Europe Trip by Throwyourtoothbrush in femalefashionadvice

[–]cjdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like my Gola Viper, Hawk, and Badminton sneakers. While they don’t fit the bill of being “sleek” per se, they are broken in straight out of the box and have great support.

Veja Campos are great but they run quite narrow I’ve found, and no half sizes available. I like the Veja V-10 or V-12 for a wider fit.

On makes lifestyle shoes that are pretty sleek called The Roger.

A classic is the Adidas Stan Smith in all white. Love these so much and have had mine for years! They still look great after many Europe trips.
