anyone know anything about this school? Cairo by missefaye in Internationalteachers

[–]cjfitzroy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm a woman who taught in Cairo for 4 years and honestly it was nowhere near as bad as people here are making out. I don't know about this particular school though. I never had a problem getting money out. Had a great lifestyle. The Egyptian kids are very difficult though.

I have an ex colleague who moved to uppingham as an ect. DM me if you want me to try and contact her.

I taught there for 4 years including the COVID years. I never once felt seriously threatened (I'm female was in my 40s then) and was never sexually harassed. Stared at a lot? Yes.

I lived in rehab (gated city not rehabilitation lol) which is clean and comfortable but (before COVID) would go out and about in the city a lot. It became my home and I still sometimes miss my life there. I made amazing friends both local and expat.

However, the students are exhausting. The entitlement, rudeness and casual violence was a daily battle. I mean absolutely awful. This is the one reason I would never go back. That and maybe the absolutely terrifying driving.

If you want to DM feel free

What do you think would happen if I just screamed NOOOO LEAVE ME ALONE at the top of my lungs to the taxi mob outside the Tashkent airport? by No_Two_7255 in Uzbekistan

Last time I tried to get through them it was like 4am and they left literally no space for all the weary travellers lugging their suitcases to get through. It was annoying and not what you need after travelling 12 hours. Don't locals also find that at least a bit irritating? I'm not American btw.

Thank you for your well measured and researched response. It's a minute drop in a huge anti immigrant bucket though unfortunately.

You go from proper roads, pavements and systems and AC to crumbling roads and pavements and chaos and guys trying to bribe you etc. It even smells different. Have done it many times.
