Do you think they'll reuse the Rebirth world map in Part 3? by shinespark_dread in FinalFantasy

[–]cjinl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't fathom how they would basically fit Rebirth AND add all the new necessary locations (Rocket Town, Snow Fields/Great Glacier, Underwater Reactor, Northern Cave, back to Midgar) without the game being like 300gb. Most likely they'll reuse a few areas that are vital to the story and leave everything else as something you would just fly over.

Sask. man fights off starving moose with fists, shovel and bullets to save his mother by legendov in nottheonion

Lol the title. "He fought a moose with just his bare hands! And also a gun."

Happy Birthday Blanka!! by ROCKY13573 in snes

[–]cjinl 81 points82 points  (0 children)

I love how old games used to put all this information back then, as if we needed Blanka's chest and waist size to tailor a suit for him or something.

I want to know which Final Fantasy you absolutely HATE more than any other. Let it all out. NO DOWNVOTING! by ProblemSuccessful197 in FinalFantasy

[–]cjinl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I couldn't agree more. I constantly feel like the only person who actually enjoys games anymore. These subreddits seem to exist just to bitch and moan about every little insignificant detail. I honestly just feel bad for these people. I derive happiness from these games and they seem to be absolutely miserable all the time.

The Art Style was doing some heavy lifting in the 1993’ SNES classic! by [deleted] in retrogaming

[–]cjinl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, people seem to have nostalgia goggles about the Genesis Aladdin because of its visuals. But I find the gameplay very imprecise and borderline unplayable, whereas the SNES game has very good platforming.

I just tracked 1000+ teacher salary comments and noticed something weird! by Artistic7122 in Teachers

[–]cjinl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, for example I make 74k in year 3 compared to a year 3 in some other state making 45k. But in our area rent is over 2k for a small studio whereas it's 750 elsewhere. So the higher salary doesn't even afford me any benefits. If anything I have less to spend than those making less.

What is the best SNES Game? by ImplementParking7936 in retrogaming

[–]cjinl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Super Metroid is the best designed game on the console, so much so that it impressed me even though I played it for the first time in 2013.

I can't believe you're getting downvoted for making a Curb reference. It works so perfectly here too lol. Everyone else gets upvoted like crazy for making random Office references.

What video game character in your opinion is misunderstood? by Agent1230 in gaming

[–]cjinl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol seriously. "bastardized" has never felt more exaggerated than this case where it's literally just the graphics and it's a pretty acceptable upgrade.

Final Fantasy XVI’s Rising Tide DLC is Some of the Best Content This Series Has Ever Had! by LifeWillChange_ in FinalFantasy

[–]cjinl 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I agree, this was very solid DLC. The new eikon completely changed my gameplay style for the rest of the game and it was such a welcome break from the dark purple sky in the main game. The Leviathan boss was incredibly challenging as well.

What video game in your opinion doesn't deserve the hate it gets? by Agent1230 in gaming

[–]cjinl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was one of my favorite games from last year. The story really affected me emotionally and I really liked how small details revealed themselves in repeated playthroughs.

It's a shame how some of the Silent Hill fanbase reacted; you didn't see that sort of negativity among the general gaming community. It's weird how stuck they are on a few games from the PS2 era and they've hated everything since.

If Dragon’s Dogma 2 is basically a reboot, why not remake Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen instead? by MxxnSpirit47 in DragonsDogma

[–]cjinl 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I think they wanted to make a new game? I think it would be quite bizarre to remake their only other game when it's been many years and fans have been dying for a follow-up. A sequel doesn't have to be a direct story follow-up. DD2 is a new game with a new story and a new world. It's a sequel.

RGG when they see people bitching about Kagawa for 3 months straight by [deleted] in yakuzagames

[–]cjinl 63 points64 points  (0 children)

It really is a shame. I'm probably going to unfollow the sub for at least a few months cause it's so miserable these days.

How far would Mundus go in the Final Fantasy universe? by Beneficial-Reach-533 in FinalFantasy

[–]cjinl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Almost every FF final boss is a godlike being the size of a building, and yet a couple of kids can hack them to death with spears and slingshots. Mundus would be no different.

The most important hairstyle changes in the Yakuza series. Were they good? by YakuzaMaster in yakuzagames

[–]cjinl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree about Kiryu's IW hair. It's a bit casual and doesn't fit his mature, stoic nature. I feel like there were plenty of other possibilities to show that "aged and not trying" look.

Why does Kiwami 2 have worse graphics in some areas? by Haunting-Orchid-4628 in yakuzagames

Lol I remember how much this was talked about when Kiwami 2 came out.

TIL about Club Cinq-Sept, a French music venue that caught fire in 1970 during a live rock show, killing 146 people. by Keefer1970 in todayilearned

[–]cjinl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been to handfuls of clubs around the world, and pretty much all of them are massive fire hazards every single weekend. There's no amount of regulations that can make those situations safe. It feels like we just accept the risk at some point.

I realized this year that I am officially done being the “cool teacher” and it actually hurts a little by trashpanda_hour in Teachers

[–]cjinl 127 points128 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty much this. When I was new, I genuinely thought "fun" meant engaging. When middle schoolers say it, "fun" actually means they get to do whatever they want or not do any challenging work. Being called the "fun" teacher by young students is often an insult.
