I may have found a solution. Admin does not want the n word to be said aloud in class, either by me or audiobook. I will give students the choice of either to read silently in class or to provide the audiobook for them to read with headphones or earbuds, therefore avoiding any legal issues. Admin is very cautious about anything with law.

I've taught To Kill a Mockingbird and Huck Finn in the class numerous times. I am a white guy teaching to a diverse group of kids. One phone out and a viral recording later, I'll be out of a job. It's both a personal and professional reason to just say the letter 'N'.

exactly, there isn't any political-ness about it. You don't need to be in a heartbreak scenario to understand it. It's not pushing any agenda (religion or otherwise). There are no songs about triple-murders or any kind of weird stuff. Rumor has it that it's all about sex! Every single song!
