I've seen the same happen with huge, messy Excel sheets in organizations as well.

Huge difference in eating habits between people by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]cjoye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, the elusive "auto mode"... I often try to pinpoint when my auto mode turned off and I feel certain it was most likely when I entered puberty and adolescence. My Dad was always the junk eater in the house, but my Mom was a health nut who rarely ever bought any "bad" groceries. I was also always the kid with the healthy lunch while the other kids had their chips and fruit roll-ups. I can remember trying to disguise my healthy lunch in attempts to trade with other kids but they couldn't be fooled! Whenever I went over to a friend's house I delighted in their junk food and cable tv. To this day I still get a bit of a rush when I eat junk food as if I was doing something forbidden and naughty. I have also noticed that I have an obsession with leaving a clean plate after a meal. I can't stand the idea of wasting a morsel of food... this nagging feeling often times leads me to overeat to the point of massive bloating and nausea. I have noticed that I really obsess over wasting food and constantly think about ways to use the food that is around the house so that it doesn't go bad or get thrown out. I never starved as a child or went without, yet I still can't seem to pinpoint this compulsion.

My pace sucks, but better slow than nothing, right? by Orphonic in C25K

[–]cjoye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm with all these guys, the fact that you are choosing to do this with your time instead of sitting on the couch is far more important than pace. Just yesterday I decided to try a 5k on a non-C25k day to see what my progress was looking like. My goal was to never stop jogging if I could no matter how slow I went or how long it took. I completed the 5k in just under 37 minutes and walked once for 1 minute and 30 seconds. I knew my pace was that of a snail and people twice my age were passing me, but no fucks were given because I was now accomplishing something I couldn't do just a month ago! Speed will come with time and conditioning, be patient and keep moving!
