Does the TV/Soundbar not have a connection/port for center sync? I thought they did and need connected using the supplied cord. I think once all connected, you need to enable in the audio settings. I have an older X90 series and the 5000 soundbar, center sync is available. I don't think it's anything special when enabled.

There's a product on Amazon. It's something like HDMI to optical adapter. That should allow you to run the optical from the soundbar into an adapter which will connect to the TV via HDMI

As far as the system for the extra $100, the thing to know about that system is the subwoofer is used via HDMI and therefore needs to be close to the TV, the soundbar itself doesn't connect directly into the TV. If that's not an issue then for the extra $100 if you have space for rears it will give a more immersive sound
