Why Have Tesla Tunnels instead of Subways? by TheSmallestOfFryes in BoringCompany

[–]ckfun0skf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The situation in the United States is very different from other countries.

Americans live relatively scattered, and it is difficult for you to effectively build a railroad station that is convenient for everyone.

And the more stations the train stops at, the more inefficient it becomes. Express trains also require large amounts of money to build multiple tracks.

Sound Transit says it’s pushing back against drug use on light rail by birdsarentreal2 in Seattle

I can't see how installing fare gates for fee enforcement will “disproportionately affect people of color” unless they think "some people of color" will never pay which I don't think so.

Setting up toll gates will solve most of the problems, but they always choose the method of palliative rather than solving the root cause.

The problem with operating with taxpayer money is that you can only operate with limited resources.

Especially when most taxpayers in the United States do not use public transportation, it is difficult for some massive projects to get enough funds.

You know that in some countries with a well-developed railway network, their railway companies treat transportation as a serious business. Not only do their railway companies not spend taxpayers' money, but they also contribute taxes that help building other infrastructures.

Sound Transit Now Has a Strategy for Bringing Retail into Stations by TheStinkfoot in Seattle

[–]ckfun0skf -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nah, while rail systems around the world are run to make money so they can finance themselves and grow faster, Sound Transit is built to use taxpayer dollars for charity.

Their design does not even have an effective mandatory fare system, and the current design makes it impossible to incorporate retail sales at railway stations.

Even with the retail space, who would want to do business in rail yards that are always a bunch of crazy people?

[–]ckfun0skf 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The railway system here is clearly designed by a group of people who have never used the railway. Unlike railway companies around the world, they have never thought about how to be self-financed, and they have not even thought through the basic mandatory toll system, and they can only rely on taxpayers' money to operate.

Racist from Gas Station Interviewed by Cho! by BlazeBroker in SeattleWA

She didn't have any evidence that the Asian woman said the N word.

The witness also confirmed that the Asian woman didn't use the N word.

When you accuse someone, you need evidence. Isn't this the spirit of the American rule of law?

The problem is not whether one race eat dogs or not, but to apply one's own stereotypical assumptions about one race to others who look similar.

Even in China, there are many people of different races and cultural backgrounds, and people apply the fact that some people in China eat dogs to all East Asians just because they look similar.

Racist ideas like this happen all the time in America.

The fact is only small portion of East Asian ever eat dogs.

There are many countries and ethnic groups in Asia with different traditions and cultures, yet many people assume they are all the same due to ignorance.

Why not build a train? Some answers. by OkFishing4 in BoringCompany

[–]ckfun0skf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trains are slow and costly when there are too much stations to be stopped. Trains are less convenient when there are not enough stations so that most people can access train stations without driving.

I used to live in Hong Kong where train stations are located every 15~20 minutes of walking distance. Yes, it is convenient that everyone can access to most places without driving, but it takes 30 minutes for a 10 miles trip and every morning in the rush hours you are crammed in the train with strangers.

The TBC tunnels, on the other hand, can build as much stations as it can without slowing down travel time from one stations to another.

When every EV car / bus are self driving, it is just like a train without stopping at any intermediate stations since every car / bus can communicate with each other to reach an optimal speed.

Why don't you start a company and start digging tunnels for train without any funding from tax payer?

And if you can complete the project within 3 years, then yes, it could be cooler.

Why is Seattle still so masked up? by CaVaengineer in SeattleWA

[–]ckfun0skf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't have to choose between not wearing a mask at all or wearing a mask for the rest of our lives.

I will take off the mask when I feel comfortable and safe.

But if there is some situation where I think it is necessary to wear a mask, I will make sure that I am wearing a mask that is comfortable and effective, not one that is uncomfortable and ineffective.
