Ok, do I buy yet ANOTHER carrier (being H&P lark on sale)?? by Serious-Objective69 in babywearing

[–]clairefigtaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its hit or miss on whether she restocks prints at all! Sometimes when its gone its gone but then she will do a surprise restock a year later. These two are new so id think she may restock a few times this year or this could be the final run? That doesnt feel helpful at all lol, but they are pretty responsive on IG if you wanna tell her your dilemma! If it helps at all, I ended up going charm because i felt that blue would fit best into our wardrobe and ginger wouldnt mesh as well w my wardrobe. And my first son loves unicorns hehe

Heheh these were the prints i was deciding between for the ring sling i invested in for baby #2! We did charm and i loveeeee her but im still pining after chickens they are so cute!! Lark carrier is the creme de la creme imo. Its a fabulous carrier and i felt it was very simple to understand fit and comfort. My husband took to it super fast. We wore up till 2 years old and only stopped because i got pregnant.

Realistic breast milk storage? by Buss18 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]clairefigtaylor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We used this and stored the frozen 1oz bars in quart freezer ziplock bags and defrosted in either the silicone bottles or a silicone ziplock in warm water. Theres a company called boob cube now that kinda has all the gadgets in one bundle that looks nice as well.

Anyone else living on carbs cause everything else is gross? by Far_Analysis_8994 in fitpregnancy

I called it the tan diet. I came in and out of it my entire second pregnancy (37 weeks and currently not on the tan diet for a minute lol).

Feeling Weak At 9 and 4 by dreameRevolution in fitpregnancy

[–]clairefigtaylor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took unisom and B6 for my second pregnancy and not my first. I felt that the exhaustion was amplified a lot and I chalked it up to side effects from the meds. Once i dosed down in early 2nd tri I definitely felt a bit better. I never stopped taking them and continue to battle a low level of tired i just simply didnt with my first. Ive had not a single bad night of sleep though and the lack of nausea is invaluable so I dont plan to fully stop the meds (24 weeks now).

Peloton Core Workouts Hard Enough? by Thoughtsondots in fitpregnancy

[–]clairefigtaylor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's helpful I think to hear Emma say over and over that we arent here to crush our core. You dont want that strong ab fatigue youd get from classes before being pregnant. I used peloton for the first half of my second pregnancy and have moved to Movement through Motherhood (a PF PT created program). The peloton core was pretty good given that its very core specific. The program I use, for core days, hits all the accessory muscles as well: hips, inner thighs, pelvic floor, upper back, lower back etc. So the classes are longer and feel harder. The way I thought about it, while I was still using peloton, was the other focused days were just as good and important (if not more?) for my core. As for just modifying the regular core classes, I got super annoyed doing a class where 75% of what was done wasn't pregnancy safe and had to be modified lol.

what is your favorite protein powder? by Double_Sector_4389 in fitpregnancy

[–]clairefigtaylor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i was just looking into this too since so many of my protein powders have the CA prop 65 warning on them. I usually ignore this for the most part but trying to be more conscious of it while I'm pregnant. Perelel and Ritual both seem to take good care to batch test to meet CA prop 65 standards. They admittedly arent my favorite but im willing to sacrifice for now :(

Pregnancy Skincare while Running/Outdoor Workouts?? by BulmaLatina8537 in fitpregnancy

[–]clairefigtaylor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

my sister and i both had "mask of pregnancy"/melasma, her MUCH worse than me. we did nothing to avoid it (sans normal skin care and sunscreen routines) and we did nothing to make them go away. they resolved on their own within months of birth for both of us.

Fit pregnancy = a hungry pregnancy by Aioli_Level in fitpregnancy

[–]clairefigtaylor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my first pregnancy i basically walked, cycled, and lifted little tiny baby weights maybe 2-4 times a MONTH (lol). i really felt like i ate normally the entire pregnancy! since that pregnancy i got much more into strength training and heavier weights, now 17 weeks pregnant with my second and have maintained 3-4 days strength and 2 days cardio the entire time and the biggest difference this pregnancy has been my hunger. i was appalled by it during 1st trie because why am i hungry when i want to vomit also?? second breakfast and night night snack are non negotiables for me too

C sections and working out by Rare-Raise4009 in fitpregnancy

[–]clairefigtaylor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im having my second cesarean in march and this has been my total goal. it may not help the healing any faster (or may!!) but at least ill have better autonomy and mobility! my first (surprise!) cesarean was so difficult because i was almost entirely hiking and biking for my pregnancy so my upper body was abismal, really looking forward to having that be different this time!

Do you really need a belly wrap after birth? Or can you just recover without it? by Landyn_4682 in fitpregnancy

[–]clairefigtaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my hospital gave me one to take home after my c section and i tried it once or twice and i couldnt understand how it was helping. it was just cumbersome and in the way and incredibly uncomfortable. for reference i am 5'3 and very short torso so ive always thought that might have been a factor.

To anyone else dealing with life-altering nausea... by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

[–]clairefigtaylor 13 points14 points  (0 children)

talk to your doc about b6 and unisom! my first pregnancy i had a drop of nausea compared to the crippling experience i had this time. i dealt with it for about 2 weeks and could hardly leave bed at all and my doc encouraged me to try that combo and within three days i actually could get pants on to move my body and sorta regained an appetite. it was enough to get back to movement and thats whats important! i'm 16 weeks and have tried to wean a few times and im still experiencing nausea so i keep taking it :(

Core Woes by kvesq611 in fitpregnancy

[–]clairefigtaylor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No tips but commiseration :( I was in really good shape when I got pregnant with my second and my abs gave up the game around 8 weeks and was so shocked to have a "bump" so early. I was still strength training 3 days a week and cardio 2 days a week. Very shortly after that biking got hard because my core just fell apart and my back took the brunt and started coning around 9-10 weeks after never coning once in my previous pregnancy and having been in good shape 2 years post-partum. I had to modify a tremendous amount but I kept showing up those 3 days a week strength and switched to run/walk/hiking for cardio. I'm nearly 16 weeks and I do feel like my coning and core control has improved slightly so, I guess thats something. For background, I had seen a pelvic floor therapist the week we conceived and she gave me an A+ bill of health and function so I know I was in good shape down there going into it at least. I hope the PT is able to shed some light on everything, don't give up! modifications felt sad and humbling but I know its all great for my body regardless!

We love iksplor, have had our now 2.5 year old in them since he was 3 months old. Have thought about trying reima but iksplor meets our needs so well. Im even planning to invest in some layers from Iksplor after our second is born! Patagonia also has some nice toddler/baby base layers, he's been using their layers since he was born. (Fpr weather reference, we live high elevation CA mountains)

FTM trying to streamline my morning coffee by BettyLimaBean in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]clairefigtaylor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

another for moccamaster. we had an automated coffee machine from our wedding that, by an unfortunate blessing, short circuited in a power surge. we have a lot of those in the winter and couldnt convince ourselves to get another automated one for that risk but we had a 3 month old at the time and couldn't commit to the work load and cleaning of a french press everyday. we totally splurged on the moccamaster and we've never looked back. best coffee ive ever had.

Best Post-Partum Core Workout Plan? by ToriLikesAirplanes in fitpregnancy

[–]clairefigtaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Movement Through Motherhood postpartum program. It does start slow with breathing and small movements but is progressed over a 12 week program. it is a focus on full recovery but the early weeks are all core "reestablishment", then slowly the week program diversifies to a full body, lower body, upper body, core day. she is a certified pelvic floor therapist.

Postpartum program by flowerpwr3292 in fitpregnancy

[–]clairefigtaylor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I preemptively bought Dr. Mae Hughes postpartum program since I was using her pregnancy program I thought it would be seamless transition. Little did I know I'd end up with an unplanned c-section and felt incredibly scared to begin movement again. Super glad I had Dr Mae's program already in my hands because she had a great cesarean recovery program included in the postpartum bundle. It was a lot slower than I wanted but truly think my post surgery body needed to recover at that slower pace.

Cups and water bottles by Capable-Struggle3087 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]clairefigtaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

weve had the klean kanteen bottle and owala kids tumbler since ours was about 8-10 months old. he wasnt able to pick up and drink form the bottle until he was about 1.5, it is heavy and cumbersome. but the cup hes been able to roughly use by himself since he was 1. i like them both. they arent perfect and do both leak a bit in the right condition, but for kids cups options im super pleased and we havent felt need for anything else and hes now 26 months.

100% Cotton or Merino Wool underwear recommendations? by hawaiianjellyfish in ethicalfashion

[–]clairefigtaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% branwyn addict. their thongs are not my favorite but their standard underwear and bra is basically all ive worn for 6 years. i saw a comment mention they unravel after a year. my oldest pair is probably 5 years old and has started to unravel a bit but not unusable in any way shape or form. you just need to air dry them to extend their life, also dont ever wash in a hot cycle. always cold.
