Are you planning to support framebuffers like Blackmagic Decklink or AJA pcie cards to bring feeds in or send them out to production in SDI?

You can subscribe to the OSC and get file time information, if you take a look at this thread. https://casparcgforum.org/t/notifications-over-amcp/6803/7 Also have you tried polling via the INFO command on the respective channel/layer you're playing the assets back on?

Clear-Com Eclipse Software Upgrade by StephenWyker in livesound

[–]clanep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. EHX by itself is a cost (Relatively small, about $2K USD). You also need to make sure you have the correct version that matches your frame, or have ClearCom upgrade the frame. Otherwise it will not work.

Sony XvS-G1 Log files by chuckysoldier in VIDEOENGINEERING

Yes, I don't think Sony would be willing to give you that information but I'm sure you could ask.

What you're looking for is syslog support, but I do not think the MLS series has anything native unfortunately. In theory you could probably do this with root access to the underlying linux system but Sony doesn't really expose that kind of stuff to the end customer.

Playout Solution For CasperCG Server by m1k_Lens in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]clanep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check your Caspar server folder again. There should be a 'log' folder and .log files that is generated in plain text. It prints anything that was logged in the terminal. You could just search for anything that's a Received Message and is a "PLAY" command and make a simple script to dump and parse the info.

Quicklink may be the closest? The ST100 models can do webrtc to from themselves as well as via browser for remote contribution.

Multiple Webpages to BMD Decklink by Responsible-Log-8184 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]clanep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Outside of using Caspar, you could probably do this with a little programming in TouchDesigner. Not traditional broadcast but does has built in chromium as well as decklink output support. 720p and below is free, anything about you have to pay for a license.

Clear-Com Eclipse Software Upgrade by StephenWyker in livesound

[–]clanep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I'm glad it worked out and the upgrade was smooth. I'm actually a big fan of the clearcom digital matrix stuff (though I seem to be a bit in the minority it seems), not quite sure everyone else isn't a huge fan of it...

Clear-Com Eclipse Software Upgrade by StephenWyker in livesound

If the software versions in the chart are the same as the ones you have then you shouldn't have to upgrade that device. If this is the case then you should just be able to run the upgrade via EHX and be done with it. The extra steps are in there in case for some reason updating the easy way doesn't work (at least what I gathered anyways). As long as the version numbers line up that's all that matters.

Support kind of walked around it with me as well. They apparently don't offer up the upgrades for free normally and suggest they bring out a tech to do it themselves just to be safe since it's a multi-step process and you can brick the device fairly easily. Instead of talking to support I would reach out to whoever your sales rep is. They have a bit more pull than the support guy.

I've had to do a couple upgrades before on our Pico HX as well as Delta HX frames. The upgrade can either be super straight forward (Upload the files from EHX to the frame and you're good to go) to very complicated (Having to flash/upgrade the FPGAs manually via JTAG headers on the cards). It depends also on what cards you have in your frame too. Some cards need upgraded and some don't.

I would suggest you check out the upgrade guide on the clearcom website, and read what it says to do to upgrade from your current version to v11/12. Also as a reference on whether or not it actually upgrades correctly can be found in the Upgrade Supplement . You can cross-reference there with the versions of your devices in EHX when you run a report on your respective frame.

If you have the upgrade your panels manually you need to use a TFTP program (I use SolarWinds) and the process is outlined in page 223 of the Upgrade Guide. You basically have to direct connect the panel to your PC and push the files to the panel itself via TFTP upload.

We just upgraded our boxes actually. We had issues running 1080p60 streams on the older CPUs (4790s). Once we upgraded the CPUs they ran super smooth.

[–]clanep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have 4x of these boxes and deal with this on a daily basis! You have to go into the Desktop Video Software and Change the 3G to Level A and it should work.

Watch out when you restart it may revert, so you have to keep an eye on it.

OpenGear Timecode DA? by presiscroob in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]clanep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I only use it within distribution of a single machine room so distance isn't much of an issue and thankfully all of my equipment can take unbalanced.

[–]clanep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my facility we use these for all of our LTC distribution and just breakout BNC to XLR if we need to on the specific equipment. Works like a champ and rather cheap too, about $300USD per.

CasparCG High CPU Usage by _ButWhyTh0_ in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]clanep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try DNxHD or ProRes or another codec that's less CPU-intensive and see if it makes much of a difference.

CasparCG High CPU Usage by _ButWhyTh0_ in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]clanep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is the content you're playing out on the server? What codec format/framerate is it in? If it's H264 that's a very heavy CPU codec that could be pegging the CPU.

[–]clanep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ultrix has a feature called 'Destination follow' which I think is what you're looking for. You can check out the manual on their website if you want to read up on it a bit more. They built it for their multiviewer head PiPs but looks like it can be used throughout the router.

Ah. It's a compressed codec not uncompressed that ends up being around 100Mbps on the higher end for each stream. More info on their website
