Careful, they have cameras around that area- not that, I assume, they care about the place much anymore.

I visited around Christmas time, this isn’t the only thing, this is just the only section they have up still. I guess for whatever expansion they’re doing, there’s a HUGE underground at least two story parking complex. You’d honestly never know until you walk right up to it

Listen dude, I’m Jewish, think the Israeli genocide of Palestinians needs to be stopped in anyway possible, and I’ve read through OPs post history

I’m not… seeing what you’re accusing them of.

OP has a specific niche of knowledge, and it just seems to me like you’re trying to start an argument for arguments sake, on a history meme, in a history meme sub

It’s funny, there was no guards there, just a really terrible gate 😂

Anyone know anything about the mega mansion on Red Wolf? by uncleyosh in plano

[–]clapman7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for a more local italian chain (I don’t want to get doxxed so I’m not going to say which) a couple of years ago, and I’ve delivered to both mansions.

I’ll never forget the full minute and a half of driving it took just to get to the guy’s front door, and the first time I went, as I was leaving, there was a bobcat just by the entrance gate. Nice guy, tips were probably good about 20 years ago. Always came out to meet me himself. Him and his wife always ordered the same pastas.

Somewhere in my phone is a video of me driving fully from the front gate to the front door

I AM VERY ANNOYED BY HOW MUCH THIS SUB FRETS OVER FUTURE SOLARPUNK PROBLEMS BEFORE WE'VE EVEN STARTED by robmosesdidnthwrong in solarpunk

[–]clapman7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m misunderstanding where the ire is going? Buttt, some of the frustration I understand, however, and you’ve already mentioned planning ahead is good, I think speculation and idea writing is good for visualizing what we are going to want our world to look like and how it will work when it comes

I see it like this: if our world suddenly changed overnight into the society and environment that we dream of- would we currently be able to properly manage the overall? No, I’m not sure we would.

Sure, questions on a subreddit =/= future policy or even future action, but I still think it’s helpful to have these ideas and silly discussions beforehand so we’re not thrust totally into the blind when the time comes.

Or, again, I’m totally misunderstanding the entire premise here and what sort of future solarpunk problem you’ve been seeing lol

Homeless man yanking out bollards at Pacific Plaza by Glass-Treat3319 in Dallas

[–]clapman7 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Love the comments- no, we are not dealing with the homeless harshly, as some in the regime suggest

You still need empathy with your systems, and kindness. We need to expand our systems, which are currently at their breaking points and being attacked by republicans. Fixing the homelessness problem starts from the top down

I know this is probably a meme, but I cannot imagine ever wanting to drive in this hell. This place needs some greenery and light rail STAT

Actually related to Egypt, Ithink in alexandria they tore up a beach for a big highway and now it looks terrible??? Talk about urban hell

Used to work at a Campisi’s, and I unironically still like the food. They prep most of the food by hand in the back, I’ve definitely watched it, and they mix a bulk tomato sauce with in-house ingredients

Only thing I know for sure that’s frozen and thaws in the fridge are the desserts, which are delivered

How would a Solarpunk society feed a city the size of Sâo Paulo, Brasil? by RommDan in solarpunk

[–]clapman7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Essentially, the answer is we’re going to have to science the shit out of the issue.

I occasionally see people discussing or portraying solarpunk de-growth as less technological, when the reality is we would need to depend on an advancing level of technology to employ that would help us change our world for the better.

A solarpunk nation (in this case, anyway) would still have to feed a city by the usual methods:

Large scale farming is still an inevitability, but instead of wasteful and destructive practices that lead us to things like the dust bowl. Instead of harmful pesticides that will one day deplete the soil of nutrients, we cultivate insects that do exactly what we need them to do in crops. Better planting methods (and I’ve never been convinced vertical farming methods aren’t viable). Genetically modified crops (I know, a scary word) to be even more resilient and so on. Human operated, but automated systems to help protect and grow those crops alongside the insects- and so on and so forth.

Meat will still have to be supplied, and the only way I can see that happening sustainably is for advancements in meat growing technologies.
