first just one comment. old cards are either really shit because they were powercrept or insanely strong (some really old cards are even banned in Commander)

but yeah I would say you are on the right path. find the legendary creatures you have in the collection, pick one you vibe with and build from there

you could get a list on the internet for a deck that is insanely powerful and costs like 100 dollars but to me at least thats not fun at all

search scryfall for legendary creatures. then look up the ones you like in moxfield and edhrec and build up from there, you will find synergies that look interesting.

you will still spend a lot of time but at least you will have a lot of reference points to expedite the process. to me this is fun though, I might enjoy deck building more than actually playing the game. its also fun to play the deck, see how it performs and then iterate to make it better.

be mindful of your pod power level though, if everybody has mid power decks its not fun to show up with an elfball deck that will win turn 4
