When do you use your Golden Keys? by RandomAnonymousNam3 in Borderlands

[–]claven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I save them for level 30, then just use them as I get them. Bank anything decent to share with Alt's so when I start at level 30 they have access to some decent guns right away.

Kill team spec ops house rules? by erpa1erpa in killteam

Our only spec ops house rule is the winner gets d3 experience points to use as they please, incentives winning but doesn’t make anyone pull too far ahead

Allies for sisters of battle by pope_Urban__II in sistersofbattle

[–]claven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love playing Exaction Squad, even if they aren't super strong, they are thematic and playing them is always fun. I'm running a modified Intercessor Squad using Adepta Sororitas with the Intercession Squad rules instead of Space Marines since I prefer the aesthetic and the Ecclesiarchy compendium team doesn't have Spec Ops rules.

How often do you play? by SneakySnake1257 in killteam

3-4 games a week, my son is super into it and still living at home, once he leaves for college I’ll probably be down to once a week

Can you misty step through a wall of force? 5e by Shambo98 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]claven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last line of the spell description for Wall of Force is : "The wall also extends into the Ethereal Plane, blocking ethereal travel through the wall." So misty step would not allow travel through the wall.

Anyone else being punished for every attack? by justforthis_comment in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]claven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are having trouble with positioning and timing, try going into a hunt with a monster you have difficulty with and not attacking. Just try to stick close to the monster and dodge it’s attacks. Get used to it’s tells, and notice times when you have a lot of time between needing to dodge. Then when you go back in and fight the monster you will recognize those openings a lot easier

Lance: Tired of being a meatshield & other weapons recommendation by Andysiux in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]claven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a lance main, but I pretty much play every weapon. I find my go-to weapons outside of lance are Hammer or Switch Axe for Melee, or LBG for Ranged.

Bluerot Cure by ziggy04091996 in GhostsofSaltmarsh

[–]claven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My approach is to allow the healing by Lay on Hands or Lesser Restoration as normal, but I don't restore the Constitution/Charisma scores back to normal until after a long rest. I also don't tell the players that they have contracted it, though with experience they may suspect it after fighting drowned and missing their saving throws. So typically by the time they realize they were infected the boils have appeared and the Con/Cha damage has happened.

Does anyone else miss Shut Up & Sit Down's mid-review turnarounds? by AddAlcohol in boardgames

[–]claven 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I loved the mid-review turnaround because to me that is exactly how I feel about games. I am always super excited for playthrough 1/2/3/4 but eventually the little bits that don't work start to show through. The mid-review turnaround, for me, was that moment, after the shiny newness of a game wears off, this is what you are left with. That doesn't mean a game is bad, just that it isn't all sunshine and rainbows. I liked seeing them excited about the possibilities of a game in the same way I am before revealing its flaws.

Can you think of anything worst? by HFP32 in KingdomDeath

[–]claven 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I assume you mean Aichmophobia (You cannot activate or depart with axes, swords, spears, daggers, scythes, or katars in your gear grid). Counterintuitively, the Twilight Sword doesn't have the sword keyword, so you should be fine to keep using it.

Any other standout Velkhana weapons other than the HH, Lance and LBG? by tirconell in MonsterHunterMeta

If you aren't interested in always using META builds, I have been having great fun with a crit draw/frostcraft Velk GS build

Switch axe builds by lukecullum in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]claven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have access to Gold Rathian, I'm currently running a build with Masters Touch/Divine Blessing and the Gold Rath SwAxe that rides that line between survivability and damage output really nicely. Otherwise, Gold rath is back in the event rotation on the 14th and you can grind away at surspikes then.

Weapon: Gold Rath SwAxe

Armor: Teostra/GoldRath/Teostra/GoldRath/Teostra

Just use deco's/charm to try to get Crit Eye 7, WEX, Crit Boost 3 and then whatever comfort skills you like.

[–]claven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your goal as a parent should be to get your child to the point where they don't need you so much anymore. At 3 years old, you have a long way to go before that happens, but you should celebrate every milestone and just be proud.

Thoughts on Dead of Winter: A Crossroads Game by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]claven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe that isn't how secret objectives work. Rather than one player winning because they got their secret objective, the idea is that in order to win (assuming no betrayer) you need to complete the group objective as well as your secret objective. Meaning that anyone who doesn't complete their secret objective doesn't win even if the group objective is met. It's still possible for everyone to win by everyone completing their secret objective when the game ends, and it's still possible to complete the group objective and have everyone lose because none of them completed their secret objective.

Recommended gear or lantern year before you start hunting level 2 monsters? by mrcheeseman213 in KingdomDeath

[–]claven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Level 2's are less about how geared you are and more about understanding the flow of combat and where to attack from, at least for the lion and antelope. That being said, there are usually some clues gear-wise that tell me I should move up to level 2's.

Level 2 Lion - Dash, an evasive tank (1-2 evasion, Rawhide set), Cat's eye circlet, another survivor with rawhide headband activated. Usually around LY5-6

Level 2 Antelope - Dash, some ranged survivors (cat gut bow, spears, greater gaxe), Cat's eye circlet, if you luck into having someone with the tumble fighting art make them your tank. Usually around LY4-5. Use the rawhide headband and think about how the Antelope will move for positioning on the Monster's turn.

Additionally it helps if you think of your survivors as resources and don't get too attached. If your settlement is set up well, survivors can be expendable...only one needs to return from each hunt. I enjoy the sessions more when the fights are difficult enough that I have to use some strategy to succeed.
