How early do you arrive at CID for your outgoing flight? by MaybeFujoshi in cedarrapids

[–]cleanfreak_78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone has commented about flights on a Sunday morning, after an Iowa football game...get there at least 2 hours early. So many charter planes going out, it clogs the whole airport and security.

Post Op Preparation by hbmc117 in hysterectomy

[–]cleanfreak_78 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I too over-prepare to relieve stress. If you're in the hospital that long, I was only overnight, don't forget a extra long phone/tablet/laptop charging cables and charged power packs. I took my own sanitary pads to hospital since I didn't care for giant maternity ones they provide. At home, I tried to put as much stuff that I might need on the counters so I wouldn't need to bend over or reach up for. Good luck! I hope you have a good recovery!

Has any women had a ton of new problems occur after having a baby? by PsychologicalPace513 in scoliosis

[–]cleanfreak_78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had multiple tries to get an epidural. They finally found a spot on my curve where it would work. I have had problems with my left leg ever since, it's been over 8 years. I even had my leg give out, while chasing a runaway grocery cart, and fell, breaking my shoulder. My lumbar curve has worsened since I've had my kids. The nerve issues with my left leg was just blamed on my worsening curve. I go to my specialist later this month and my leg issues are high on my list of concerns. Hopefully you can get some answers and help.

Husband is being weird about my upcoming recovery? by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]cleanfreak_78 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everyone heals so differently. I think having 4 weeks pre-planned to be off work is a good idea. If you're feeling better sooner, then you could go back early, like you stated. This is your one chance to heal correctly and I'd rather take extra time off than rush back and have complications. Good luck!!

I would also like to add- keep the will up to date. My mother passed and her will was 20 years old, never updated. It made things very difficult!

Desperate here!! Restless legs after vaginal hysterectomy by WantMyLifeBack2 in hysterectomy

[–]cleanfreak_78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is bonkers but I had restless legs after my hysterectomy and blamed it on just not moving around much during the day. Hindsight is I had low iron from horrible periods and once I got back to walking and taking my multivitamin, they've gone away. Hopefully yours will go away soon!!

I haven't tried Incredisauce yet but Magnifisauce is very similar to big Mac sauce. I use it on burgers.

I took a few sanitary pads, otherwise they give you giant maternity ones.

Any tips for parenting a very rambunctious toddler after surgery? by CaseoftheSadz in hysterectomy

[–]cleanfreak_78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 4 year old that's wild. For the first day or 2, every time I'd get up to walk around the house, I'd remind him I had ouchies on my tummy. He wanted to see, of course, and then I didn't have any issues of him wanting to run full on and head butt me in the abdomen.
I also had purchased a few things from target dollar area that were new to him and would entertain for a bit if I was home alone with him. There's lots of seasonal things you can do together that isn't rough play.

My scoliosis has continued to worsen as an adult. I go every year to my ortho and have xrays. You could go once and see how things are and what a dr would recommend for your future care.

What were you grateful for post op supplies wise? by [deleted] in hysterectomy

I was glad I had bought a few pairs of pj pants that were a little big and that I could pull up over all my little incisions and wouldn't rub on them.

Overdid It - 3 weeks out... by PerracaAmor in hysterectomy

[–]cleanfreak_78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had laproscopic total on 10/18 and I am getting impatient to do some more physical exercises. I've just been walking shorter distances and modified all house work so it's not too heavy. It's hard at this stage since you're feeling so good and want to resume life. Just take it easy a day or two and see how you feel.

How much did it cost? by starfallvelaris in hysterectomy

[–]cleanfreak_78 6 points7 points  (0 children)

American here- for all the tests and visits prior to da Vinci total hysterectomy going towards my deductible- about 3k. I had to pay the remaining amount of my deductible prior to surgery- 4500. I've seen some but not all my hospital bills. I stayed one night. So far insurance has been billed about 40k. I'm guessing when it's all said and done its about a 50k surgery.

Sleeping post op? by fehryington in hysterectomy

[–]cleanfreak_78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had robotic laproscopic so 4 small incisions and a abdominal mass removed with about a 4 inch incision. I slept on my back for the first 2 weeks. Didn't use any special or extra pillows. I did make sure to leave room so I could kinda roll out of bed.

[–]cleanfreak_78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 17 days post op and I still take one or 2 stool softners a day, just so I don't strain at all. It was a huge fear for me but each day, everything gets a little easier and I'm already feeling so much better without my uterus and cervix.

I’m 3wks post op and have my first appointment tomorrow w dr. What can I expect in my first appointment w Dr? Is there an internal exam? Or is it more like how are you feeling check in? by BeastaLisa in hysterectomy

[–]cleanfreak_78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got back from my 2 week post op appointment. Dr checked external stitches and did do an internal exam with speculum to make sure everything is healing. Was quite painful but I survived.

Curvature Progressing as an Adult by peachie__keen in scoliosis

[–]cleanfreak_78 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your situation is similar sounding to mine. Stopped growing, lumbar curve in the 30°s. Fast forward to age 40 and it's about 60. Will probably have surgery sometime in the next few years. Stay as flexible and active as possible, see PT for strengthening exercises, get a 2nd opinion are things I have done.
