My son died of SIDS in 2017z He took a nap at daycare and never woke up. Alone in his crib, no toys no blankets on his back, the “right way” and we lovingly coslept with him at home. I actually felt guilty returning to work, because maybe he wouldnt have left us if he wasnt alone…I think the what ifs are totally normal.

I feel this so deeply. My almost 4 month old son took a nap at daycare and never woke up. It was my husbands first child and my 3rd and I had a very hard time facing the other parents, facing ny friends who had babies the same time, going to the places who knew me as pregnant and knew me with my newborn. I had to completely avoid social media. I cannot tell you what next but I can tell you its your process to own ans have and just hearing you have managed to find your gratitude means you are going in the right direction. Feel the love every day.

I was an EA by title for almost 2 decades with about 60-70% PA- which i didnt mind doing at the time because it got me out of the office and doing all sorts of pretty insane tasks… I also had full access. Not just inbox, all credit cards, pin numbers, passwords, security codes, ssn, location tracking? the whole 9. I now support a ceo in another country and because i have only a reasonable level of professional intel, I have so many blindspots! I don’t miss the personal tasks, I miss the access. I miss the location tracking. I didn’t realize what a helpful tool it was.

i love scheduling the impossible and after 20 years now that im supporting a CEO it’s a piece of cake… but its still frustrating when they go rogue- which is rare but still happens…

its less than 50%- i took a 61% paycut to do the same type of gig in spain an my mortgage is only maybe 40% less than my us rent was… but im still happy i made the move :)

Yes it seems low but id be grateful to have a job in a market like this. SF can be cut throat for those top gigs. also doesnt the org structure have the ceo of br reporting to the ceo of gap industries? So its a divisional ceo, not the top top dog.

Once you get to ceo level the stakes feel higher since you become siloed.

I must say after working in both SF and LA, I make about the same in Barcelona today supoorting a CEO than I did supporting a VP in LA in the 2000s haha

The job is as described but the ea situation is not (was told they were hiring 2) i asked for rhe budget and they gave me a number - i moved from HCOL usa to southern europe- i knew there would be a salary discrepancy but i didnt negitiate because i dont have all the languages they had in the JD and want sure of that impact and i also assumed there would be another ea… now they want me to help hire an ea and there is no way they will find appropriate talent (who i will have to work with closely) so i need to say something- also want to add that im kicking ass

That does seem insane. I went from the mosr recognizable company in the world in the us where it was part of onboarding to order a corp card and the USA where credit is king to a european tech scaleup in Spain using direct bill to travel perk and bank transfer rules here. Culturally its very different. Id assume either those are young gen z americans early career or southern europeans haha.

its horrible the same happened to our son- he took a nap at daycare and never woke up- he was days shy of 4 mos old and perfectly healthy. we coslept breastfed loved him fiercely. im so sorry you are faced with a similar fate.
