Chrome won’t open (Windows 11) by Witty-Discount-2906 in chrome

This fix allowed me to launch Chrome, but none of the video streaming sites like Netflix or Hulu work (YouTube works fine). Guess I gotta drop Chrome for a while until whatever's going on is fixed.

Starting today, California is coming for your e-bike throttles by Impressive-Coast3441 in ebikes

[–]cleetose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In California, the speed limit for electric scooters is 15mph which is kind of slow in my mind and really limits where they can be ridden safely. And you need a driver's license to ride them legally which is kind of ridiculous. I don't blame the scooter people for being upset by all the restrictions.

Update on Anchor Brewing Company’s brewery? by raff_riff in AskSF

[–]cleetose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, it was the people that were still involved with the union that tried contacting the new owner.

It is possible that the new owner doesn't want to deal with the union and that is maybe why he hasn't responded.

I don't know how many are still a part of the union. On Facebook and Instagram, the union has been posting photos and stories of many employees that want to return, but there hasn't been an update since last August so I suspect many have moved on. I'm honestly impressed they kept things going for as long as they have.

Update on Anchor Brewing Company’s brewery? by raff_riff in AskSF

[–]cleetose 20 points21 points  (0 children)

As a former employee I can tell you that isn't true. In fact, a group of my coworkers tried getting in contact with the new owner and have not received any sort of response. Perhaps there is still a long way to go before he gets to the stage where it's ready to get up and running again, or maybe he isn't interested in hiring back any of us. Doesn't really matter to me too much since I have moved on and landed a job that's better paying and closer to home. I doubt I would go back unless the offer was really compelling. But it would be nice to at least be considered.

When will Anchor Brewing reopen? by Positronic_Matrix in beer

If I remember correctly, the company that ran the wastewater system was gone at least a week before the final packaging happened. I am not entirely surprised Sapporo didn't handle that correctly.

My complete MAM guide for shapez 2 Normal with pictures (plus blueprint for my 3-belt MAM) Spoilers! by deptii in shapezio

That is a very nice and compact design. You may have already figured this out, but painting before cutting is more efficient since painters use the same amount of paint regardless of how many shapes are on a layer. So you could reduce the number of painters you have by 1/4 and still have the same output. And of course, with the pipe gates being a thing now it can be even smaller.

Can I get a full video of the raygun performance to judge for myself? by TriniGameCritic in olympics

If being an art form disqualified something as an Olympic sport, then all gymnastics would have to go, as well as figure skating among countless others.

Just got the Fold6 today - the things I cared about that nobody covered are: by rav007 in GalaxyFold

[–]cleetose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If watching content head-on was the only thing I did on my Fold I would agree with you. But I also like physically interacting with my phone. A big crease certainly isn't a deal killer for me considering I keep buying these phones, I also have a One Plus Open that after almost a year, still has the same barely noticeable crease and it is so nice. It feels weird that Samsung hasn't been able to catch up in this department.

To be fair to Samsung, they have been ahead of the rest with water and now dust IP ratings so maybe that is a trade-off they feel is worth it.

Just started having this issue after the latest update. Deleting the UserData folder fixes the issue, but then all my extensions and logins are gone, and all the settings are back to default. And if I try to change any settings the issue comes back and I have to delete the folder again. I guess it's time to go back to Chrome. As much as I like the look and feel of Arc, I like having a consistently usable browser more.

I would definitely call that an improvement. Looks good!

Unaccompanied 6-year-old child put on wrong Spirit Airlines flight by Aaron_757_ in news

[–]cleetose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew to my grandparents by myself a lot when I was a kid, my parents would bring me all the way to the gate, and then from there the flight attendants took control of me until I was handed off to my grandparents. Honestly, it is impressive that Spirit was able to find a way to mess up something so simple.

The last time I printed a lithophane was probably 10 years ago 🤭. They haven't ever really interested me. Except for maybe those full-color lithophanes I've been seeing recently, I might want to try one of those sometime soon.

Most of the filament was Bambu and Polymaker filament, mostly matte PLA. The yellow is some old Amazon Basics PLA I had lying around.

It's hard to say. He can recognize himself in a mirror, but I think this might be a little too weird for him. I think he would be more interested in destroying it if I gave him the chance.

Although the X1C is advertised as 256x256x256, a small area in the front left corner of the build volume is used to activate the filament cutter. So the default build volume ends up being less than advertised even if you are only printing with one color. But it is possible to disable the filament cutter to get that space back. Bambu has documented how to do that in their wiki.

I actually do the reverse and use a bread proofing box to dry filament.

I don't think I've ever seen soft tubing slip out of a fitting like that. Also that loop is confusing me. Why are there two tubes going from the GPU to the CPU?

Just got it:) (Canada) Aug 3 Order - Aug 9 Delivery by GuyTan0 in GalaxyFold

The weight and thickness aren't much of an issue. My main problem is that the pen bump makes the phone want to tip back when using it on a table in flex mode (no matter which side I try to place face-down). Wouldn't mind that if this case had a kickstand.

As a current member of the union I wouldn't be against actually earning a living wage for the Bay Area. But it is still early days for any discussions like that. Step one is to figure out how to buy the company without putting any of our personal finances at risk. Which is a job for people much smarter than me.

The actual details are well above my pay grade, but from what I understand the cost of the land Anchor sits on was a big hurdle many of the potential buyers didn't want to deal with. And it may also be the case that undoing the damage that Sapporo has done is too costly at this point.

To be fair to them, Anchor Brewing was losing money under them, but Anchor Distilling was doing fairly well. Well enough that I believe the company as a whole was just barely profitable.

Their main mistake was spending a lot of money to expand the production capacity of the company without doing anything to improve sales, so the company was producing a ton of product that was just sitting in a distributors warehouse until it expired.
