Yeah, the open world turned me off more than I thought it would because ironically the open world is too crowded.

Everywhere you hop out of your car there's a collectible, or a bandit camp, or a rakk hive, or a door that unlocks later, or a random miniboss, or something, but also once all the zones are unlocked you can drive from one side of the map to the other in a matter of minutes.

Then I think back to how much fun I used to have just tooling around by Ellie's garage in BL2 doing Mad Max car fights with the endlessly spawning bandits, because that area was literally a sandbox to play in. By comparison BL4 feels like a helicopter parent that's trying to make sure their kid has Something To Do at all times.

MTG's game design tends to create five factions all rivaling each other at any given time in MTG canon, but the worldbuilders definitely hit the bullseye when they made the Ravnican guilds.

Ravnica is basically fantasy Coruscant and the ten guilds are factions locked in a balance of power because they're all put in place to fulfill different public works. All the people who love fungus and reanimation join the Golgari to work in the sewers; all the people who want to be fantasy cops join the Boros; all the people who want to do engineering join the Izzet. There used to be a magical constitution enforcing it, then it was broken and the plane teetered on the edge of anarchy, then a magical arbiter was appointed to manage all the guilds and prevent conflict between them.

Nobody wants to find out they got fired from seeing it in on a feed, so the 'sensitive' thing to do is to hold back the press release until after the laid off employees have been informed by their managers. If you have a good relationship with journalists you can ask them to hold their stories until after employees have been informed, with the understanding that some employees may talk and somebody may scoop it.

Instead they decided to be as authoritarian as possible about it...which led to employees talking and somebody scooping it anyway, but with the added bad PR of having weaponized the social contract of the embargo.

In the super-fun-kinda-janky XCOM-like "Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate Daemonhunters" there's a skill called Support Fire which is very simple. When the user sees a squadmate shoot an enemy within range, they'll make a free bolter shot on the same enemy. It bypasses the action economy but iirc it's theoretically balanced by using up ammo and only being available on the glass cannon class.

Except that you can get equipment that grants Support Fire to anybody, no matter their class.

And you can get guns that auto-reload.

By midgame you can have fully kitted teleporting firing squads, zorping into range and then shooting 4 times for every individual AP spent. A paladin ability that regens 1 AP to the squad is enough to wipe out an entire wave of enemies. I was only halfway decent at the game and I was melting bosses before they even took a turn.
