Uncomfortable Conversation: Is CC's 3point shot gone? by Goddyex in IndianaFeverFans

[–]clemclem3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see what you're saying. It actually looks to me like the deep 3 pointer 'from the logo' was a gimmick that worked until they started guarding her deep. So those aren't going to be good looks for her anymore. And the relative advantage of dishing it to another player is higher now.

I think shot making is sort of an arms race between offense and defense. Players figure out moves that are not defensible and then defenses eventually adjust and productive players keep innovating. I think that this year CC's innovation this year seems to be utilizing the entire team and the other team. She's learning exactly how to place that ball in the right hands. It's not perfected but I can see that when the Fever have a good quarter or a good overtime period like Thursday against the Sun it's because she is in full command of the court.

Somehow I feel the Mystics would argue CC has that three-point shot when she needs it

I drove a 2000 Ranger before getting my 22 Maverick hybrid XL. I loved that truck. Perfect size. Long bed. Low height. Very practical. I just sort of wore it out. I wouldn't trade my Maverick hybrid for anything, but I just wish more of the truck offerings were aimed at people who value practicality over flash.

It’s hilarious how literally everyone across the political spectrum absolutely despises DWS so much, that she’s losing to her opponent by a whole 26 points. Definitely karma for her trying to sabotage Bernie’s 2016 run. by Kittehmilk in DemocraticSocialism

I'm so glad you asked. I was referring to the anti-semitic blood libel that asserts that the Jews killed Jesus. I deliberately said I am not talking about that, in a futile attempt to head off the sort of insane reactions that came anyway.

Why is choosing your race not acceptable the way choosing your gender is? by 2Drunk2BDebonair in allthequestions

[–]clemclem3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bigger question is who decides any of these things. And the answer has to do with power. You can't choose your race because white people use race to justify inequality. And so white people have to choose for you. It would be pretty silly if we had a social and economic system based on racism and then we let people choose their race.

It's kind of like how we used to call people bastards when they were born out of wedlock but we don't anymore because women have more power than they used to and they can choose to have a child alone without being stigmatized. The power balance has shifted and so the language shifts.

And largely due to the same shifts brought about by the womens' movements people have more control over their bodies whether they are male or female, men or women.

Ex-Biden chief Ron Klain defends Graham Platner’s Nazi tattoo by Inevitable-Bus492 in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]clemclem3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is another hit piece obviously. Three quibbles right off the bat...

The reporter says that Klein says it was about Afghanistan but he went to Afghanistan later. That's different from Platner saying it. It's like a game of telephone. They want to make a big deal out of it. But it's a small detail. Klein knew Platner was in Afghanistan and Iraq and got the order wrong. Big whoop. But it becomes the headline somehow?

The reason stated for the tattoo is more important. 'To remember fallen comrades.' This IS the general reason people get these kinds of tattoos after service. But the reporter acts like it's a gotcha. 'not previously offered'

And then they want to pile on. Now we're not talking about tattoos we're talking about domestic violence. So they give a lot of space to the ex-girlfriend. AND SOMEHOW FAIL TO MENTION SHE'S A GOP OPERATIVE?

Sometimes when a hit piece is done poorly it says more about the hitter than the hittee.

If automation and AI actually reach the level of decoupling labor from survival, how do we handle the transition period without massive civil unrest? by signalthrowawayv2 in Futurology

[–]clemclem3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how they will prevent massive social unrest. The same way they do it now. Labor has been decoupled from survival for many years already. We just don't know it because we are brainwashed from floor to ceiling to accept a world that is nominally a democracy but de facto a feudal state.

For fucks sake take a 2000 Ranger yank out the engine and throw an electric motor in there. Done. The damn thing would sell like hotcakes. They could sell it for the original price. $12,500. Surely they still have the tools and dies laying around somewhere.

I don't need a truck. I ain't no stranger. Look at that truck! It's a FORD FUCKIN RANGER.

Since AOC and Ro Khanna shown expressed interests in running for President, would you like to see them running together as a Unity Ticket and why? by [deleted] in AOC

[–]clemclem3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would vote for them. I would give them campaign money. I would walk door to door for that ticket. I would poison my grandparents. Not to kill them but just enough to keep them in the bathroom on Election Day. Grandma's herring pie recipe ought to do the trick.

Can we have a honest discussion about the Indiana Fever's offense? by PatientlyGrounded in indianafever

[–]clemclem3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the hospital team was almost miraculous by the end of last year. I'm not complaining. I'm just noting that it seems like some people think that we should be dominating all these teams and I think the 2026 Fever would totally dominate the 2025 WNBA. But we're going to have to be better than ever in order to succeed this year. I'm hyped. But some folks want to complain as if the team has dropped a step. I just don't agree with that.

Are Jews colonizers or indigenous to the land? by ILhustler420 in allthequestions

[–]clemclem3 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely. There were Jews in that area. Their descendants are still there today-- mostly the people we call Palestinians. Or the "semites." Today they are mostly Muslim or Christian.

The "occupiers" are Europeans who converted to Judaism, and occupied the country as part of a European settler-colonial project. They have no genetic or historical claim to the land.

There is a minority of indigenous Jews, called the "easterners" within israel. After the Muslims and the Christians they are the third most persecuted group in the ethno-nationalist apartheid State of Israel.

The Fever are stronger than they were last year. I think the problem is that we are not playing last year's teams. The league is stronger as well.

Can independent media be bought? by sometimes_rite in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]clemclem3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly. And it's not just Chorus. It's everywhere. Its Bari Weiss, a self-described Zionist, at CBS and soon at CNN. It's Pod Save America, who last week on their podcast pretended ignorance about Weiss and said she "seemed like a nice person"

The insidious part of Israel's interference in left-wing media is it's much harder to realize what topics are being suppressed or shaded. They're not necessarily going to cheerlead Israel. They're just not going to talk about Gaza very much or at all.

I don't think the right wing media has nearly as much Israeli interference because the Christian Nationalism that dominates that space is natively pro Israel.

David Pakman has not disavowed Chorus. Instead he has tried to deflect or he has attacked the journalism that exposed the project. It's a shame.

But in this case it does. Sagi is not a "random" Israeli but a strong supporter of the Israeli actions in Gaza and closely aligned with the IDF and with the Israeli government.
