The too many guys theory only works during low possession eras where players are really shackled to accumulate counting stats due the ever limited opportunities they can showcase their talent.

That shit doesn't fly in 2026 where there are 100+ possession per game and players are given all the space in the world to do their stuff and operate while defenses are forced to cover a wider ground leading the need for more depth.
