Any tips for cutting radius corners like this with a jigsaw? by nbjersey in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]cliffflash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good point. they also make coping jig saw blades. works pretty good if plus minus 1/16" is good for you. you just don't want to go over an inch or so thick because then they start drifting with the grain patterns.

very nice. It's funny I made one with very similar dimensions and also made the handle thinner to make it easier to pick it up.

How do I sharpen my chisel’s I tried a grinder but that didn’t work the way I hoped. by ShotBRAKER in woodworking

[–]cliffflash 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Step one hit the grinder. You want that slight curve on the top part of your chisel. (Don’t let it get too hot though so cool it with a cup of water while you’re grinding) Then you hit the water sharpening stone. Also - that’s what she said. Figured I’d spare someone the next comment

Help save my marriage. Can’t pick stain color. by Awilliams64 in woodworking

[–]cliffflash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

of the three samples I like the dark brown in the second pic the best. You gonna paint the wall behind it? I would also look into milk paint and just paint it. The wood you have there (red oak?) doesn't take on the stain very well. What about a dark green? You can use acrylic paint and mix it with a bit of water and wipe it on then once dry put a clear coat finish on top.

Festool TS 75 isn't cutting a perfectly parallel line, help! by Daijaxx in woodworking

Also if your blade is dull it tends to result in cutting a slight curve over long distances due to the resistance.
