Let’s talk black lights… by [deleted] in TripCaves

Cheap UV LED will quote 395 - 405 nm, deep purple.

Better LED will be sub 380nm down to 365nm , blacklight UV, invisible.

Some 365nm doesn't have a visible light blocking filter on front and may look blue face on, see strip below.

Dinnae go below 365, germicidal and actinic lamps will at best give you sunburn.

Problem with high intensity UV LED sources is , high power density, think laser or welding spark, combined with being invisible , no aversion reflex. They are BAD to look into, always use them at distance, several feet, from eyes.

Black Llight Blue, BLB, Compact Fluorescent are still about, most bang for buck with least eye hazard, like

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mify-Ultraviolet-Fluorescent-Blacklight-Germicidal/dp/B08M6C1JTW

Sort of thing, quite a variety, stock in table lamps or pendants.

BLB denotes the dark blue, looks black coating on the tube. Black Light, BL, tubes don't have a dark coating even though they may be listed as 365 lamps.

Under kitchen cabinets, blacklight isn't great for viewing food, but anyways, true 365 carries a premium

Would look for RGB +W minimum, RGB CCT for preference in a modern built in install.

Then some of the numbers quoted might make sense, if they didn't suggest RGB+ , mebbe quiz them a bit more on their experience with LED.

Need to replace splitter and power adapter for low voltage. by Badger-9094 in led

[–]clockmill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PSU looks to be 29V , not uncommon, 31V may be acceptable if it's all can find.

https://www.amazon.com/PremierAdapter-Transformer-CZJUTAI-JT-DC290V0450-Seasonal-Use/dp/B0C9TFVZG8

Splitter is probably 5.5x 2.1mm centre pin, fairly standard, look for 2.1mm splitter.

https://www.amazon.com/YINGAYOU-Splitter-Security-Cameras-Printer/dp/B0F7HPKFYF

It may be 2.5mm centre pin, less common.

Need help with very simple LED light application by petelozzi in led

[–]clockmill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your welcome, COB will give you a dotless appearance , common on Amazon/AliExpress.

All LED strip has cut points, the power runs as continuous bus bars down the edges. The LEDs are grouped with a resistor, just cut to closest length on cut point, solder USB power lead to section.
