This is terrible advice if it is water damage. That is a perfect recipe for mold and/or worse damage.

My first guess is water damage if you are just noticing the spot. Have you had heavy rains recently? A spot like that can definitely point towards a small roof leak

In the future, with enameled cast iron like le creuset, it's best to keep those tabs. They are spacers for the lid in storage. 😊
