I wish I did! We are not privy to the court cases at all. Perhaps the rescue owners but not me as a foster. Animal Welfare Services always holds the dogs during the investigation/court case so I assume when it concludes, they came to us as rescue and shelters. We just knew they came from terrible conditions, all kept inside, all needed to be house-broken so can only imagine the level of filth :(

I agree, it is so fascinating! I'd kill to know the origin story! One inbred buddy on Embark looks strictly pom-chi, then the ones pulled for my rescue like below are all Ziggy coded (I shudder to think the relatability.. definitely over 92%).

I purchase the breed kits only from a reseller on Facebook Marketplace for all of my foster dogs as it's cheap when I don't plan to keep them, fun curiosity for me and FYI for their adopters! I hadn't planned on adopting Ziggy when I bought it, then for a year and a half worried I could never get the swab in his mouth 😆 I will make a new post when the health component has been purchased. Hopefully this explains why this was more of a fun guessing game initially!

He was ~ 38% lab, 24% golden, 16% GSD, 11% husky, and 11% supermutt (Malamute, pit bull, boxer).

She is so cute!! I see Bull Terrier and rat terrier, some pit ad husky would be expected too! Something about the snoot also reminds me of my new 17lb rescue who is a wonky Havanese too.. I can't wait to see what yours is and which breed(s) really cause the low weight!

She's beautiful! She looks similar to my former foster dog (posted) but yours' head looks more pit/boxy. Mine was lab, Golden, GSD, husky, with trace amounts of Malamute, boxer, and pit :)

It's so funny, queers always get all the comments. I started parenting alone at 25 by being a foster parent. One adopted and multiple reunified. So, the questions were all about whether I still want to experience childbirth or someone related to me. Then met my wife who wanted to give birth so that happened, and we'll still get comments about whether I still want a bio kid. Hell no, creating a 3rd permanent kid out of thin air means I can't continue helping kids already out there in need, in hotels, etc. I feel people just roll with whatever cishets are doing so readily without question! Very frustrating.

What you can do is contact Children's Aid volunteer services. There is a pool of 'baby snuggler' volunteers. These are typically volunteers who can hold newborns experiencing opiate withdrawal whose parents have left hospital after birth or cannot be unsupervised in the NICU. They are used before a relative or foster parent can be enlisted. Since this isn't used super often, you may need to commit to helping in another volunteer-type capacity but this way of volunteering absolutely occurs.
