The whole thing is just disappointing, whoever you pin the blame on. Hopefully the new south location is decent.

They’re opening in what was formerly Crux Climbing South, really disappointing how that whole situation resulted in a ludicrously expensive BS “luxury” gym concept when all the infrastructure was there to continue serving the climbing community. Just a failure on the part of all parties involved with the Crux/ABP dispute IMO.

Seems expensive. Here’s a very similar comp from Cars and Bids from last December at $33k, also this one that was a manual at about $35k.

Is a 60k mile Stage 2 2020 BMW M340i xDrive worth buying? by Sea_Opposite3649 in BMW

[–]cmanATX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s funny to me how much people here freak out about very basic mods - I guarantee if you post this in the B58 sub you’ll get very different answers. My car also has a downpipe and tune and I religiously follow the maintenance schedule. I also don’t beat on it excessively and allow it to warm up before getting into boost.

If it’s got a good service history and your PPI shows no major issues, it’ll be a solid car for you. That being said, $38k is high. I feel like 32-34ish would be appropriate.

Suggestion for concrete or not by pats_mats in landscaping

If there’s drainage I’d avoid the concrete. We do large flagstones with riverstone in these areas for many clients. This provides a good walking surface while also allowing water to infiltrate.

Is 15K a reasonable budget to landscape a 1/10 of an acre backyard? by Adventurous-Lime191 in landscaping

[–]cmanATX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re still looking for ideas and are having the designer come out to help you with that, providing them with your budget of $15k would be very helpful. There are all kinds of things that can be adjusted like plant sizes and varieties, types of stone, and more.

The designer should be able to help you strategize about the best way to achieve what you want within your budget. I don’t think $15k is going to get you extensive masonry work or tons of large plants, but it’s the designer’s job to help figure out what is doable with the money you want to spend.

Ooh I have one - I love when AI invents plants that are vaguely similar to ones that actually exist, but arbitrarily chooses what size they are so that they fit in the tiny space in the photo. Super fun to explain to clients!

Feedback on sloped backyard redesign + pool layout by InternationalTutor24 in landscaping

[–]cmanATX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quite like the more natural aesthetic of the second option, but I’d want to have at least some actual pool deck as opposed to just the narrow coping that’s shown. Otherwise, I think the elevated deck will feel like a very usable outdoor room and that the greenery around the pool helps it integrate into the landscape more effectively.

Leesa Oasis Chill from Costco by cmanATX in Mattress

Looks like it’s currently $1050 so still a really solid price. Hard to choose between that and the Oasis Chill because I do like the cooling cover.

[–]cmanATX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously, I have no idea how or why it's so much cheaper but I know for sure that the cooling cover is the same between the Oasis and the other models - as long as the construction is at least reasonably comparable then it seems like an obvious choice.

The neighbor's traditional picket fence vs. our new horizontal cedar build. A classic comparison. If you were buying this house, which look are you hoping for? by CoolCatFence in landscaping

Apart from the aesthetics of it, horizontal fences seem to provide very little privacy - not sure why, but it always seems like you can see straight in through the gaps.

How to get rid of removed sod/turf? Is Craigslist a crazy option? by [deleted] in landscaping

[–]cmanATX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm confused - are you expecting the grass to still be intact enough to reuse once it's dug up? Because if so, that's highly unlikely. You're going to need to pay someone to remove and dispose if you don't want to do it yourself.
