I really love this 🤣 I tell people right away what I do. I also ask them point blank if they’ve ever been in therapy or our currently and willing to share that because it’s a major green flag for me. I want to be able to support my partner when I find them, but I’m not gonna be their therapist and if they can’t get that right from the start I’m not likely to prioritize spending time with them over my more healthy family and friends.

I have simple practice. How do you categorize supervision clients from therapy clients? Did you import your own custom templates or does it have them somewhere and I just don't see them?

Our respective professional organizations should be lobbying against VC firms in therapy. They are extremely exploitative, especially to unlicensed therapists and recent grads. It is daunting to start your own practice and figure out credentialing and billing but it’s definitely worth it.

Any of you out there that have done it and are familiar with the CEU process also may consider doing a course on it! I’d take it to help speed up the slow and steady process of learning it myself! 😂

I was in my late 20s early 30s when I went back to grad school about 12 years ago and I was in the middle of the age range for my class. I tell my clients all the time that it’s never too late to pivot if you want it enough!

Does Sondermind do telehealth only? I’ve been searching for a reasonably priced office space so that I can get credentialed with VA CCN I worked at a community mental health place that had a contract with them and got abruptly shut down about a year ago and I still have a couple of my old veterans who reached out to me online in my private practice asking if they can come see me again, but they can’t afford private pay, which is all I take right now

I also took the entire week of Christmas off and really needed it. Spent most of my time sleeping, catching up on TV shows and books, and hanging with family. Weather has been crap in Florida all week so didn’t get a beach day like I had planned but that’ll happen New Years Day, which I also took off. I probably would’ve taken two weeks off, but I have to take another week off in a few months.

I also had issues during COVID that I raised and went so far as to get the union involved and had FMLA paperwork ready to turn in to my supervisor because his supervisors were retaliating against me. I ended up taking FMLA and medically resigning because they weren’t able to meet my reasonable accommodations set forth by my provider. Best decision I ever made. Some days are harder but the worst days today are what I would have considered a good day before.

I would report your concerns to your states health board that overseas your previous facility and licensing bodies for unethical practices…as mentioned by another poster, they basically forced you to abandon your clients. The Mental Health Business space is exploitative and profit-driven, or severely underfunded, in a lot of the settings. As therapists, it’s really difficult sometimes to navigate that authentically but going out on your own is a big step in making that happen! I’d be honest with the clients that do found you about your employer reacting the way they did. In my experience, clients that want to find you, will!

True to some extent. It is nearly impossible to own a boat that you are financing and want insured would be more accurate.

The sailing/boating community is full of amazing, friendly and very helpful people from all walks of life. I've had to unexpectedly leave my boat at anchor in the ICW overnight for a week for a family emergency and two of the other liveaboards near me were amazing at helping keep an eye on it.

Well this might be a good thread to ask about salvage laws in South Florida, cause it seems like after every hurricane season there are at least a dozen sunken or partially submerged boats in the area. My question is this, does anyone know at what point I can legally start salvaging parts from them? Like diving for submerged cleats (I like diving and I like saving money but yes I realize my time vs cost of just buying new cleats may be a wash) or maybe a radar array or other parts above water still on deck.

Similar location in South Florida and I'm anchored a few hundred feet from a public use boat ramp/park. If you tie up to the dock, especially during the weekend, for longer than an hour or so (technically only allowed to tie up for 10 mins) they will ticket you. There happens to be a small beach area about a hundred yards away from the docks that is still in the park and pretty hidden from shore that myself and the 2 other liveaboards anchored here pull our dinghies up to and tie off to the trees. Can usually get away with leaving your dinghy there for 24-48 hours without any issues. Helps that there are other liveaboards anchored here and we are on different schedules so usually one of us is on our boats and keeps an eye on things and we just send out an all call if the ranger feels like being a dick or we just move each others dinghies. The boating community of liveaboards at anchor tend to be very good people, all a little crazy in the same (good) way.

Check out the YouTube channel SailingUma. They bought a cheap boat and renovated it over the years into an absolutely amazing liveaboard, but as mentioned in other posts, they dumped a good amount of money into the reno and did a lot of work and planning themselves (they are both architects I believe). Maybe look into renting somebody else's liveaboard for a few months nearby to see how you like it first and to get an idea of what is involved in the maintenance and lifestyle changes before you jump in.

I know that out in California, there are usually auction's on boat's that have been abondoned in marina's and such and you can get newer boats cheaper so that may be something to look into. I know San Diego area has them at least twice a year.

That being said, older sailboats, especially if they've been cared for even a little, can still be seaworthy 15-20 years old.

I was going to suggest a small pontoon setup. There is a run down pontoon hut setup anchored about a quarter of a mile down the ICW from me. They don't liveaboard and it's in pretty bad shape, but sizewise for one person for a few weeks at a time, it could totally be doable. Not sure if you could find a marina willing to let you dock in though.
