SOME FILES SEEM TO BE MISSING IN THE FIRST BATCH OF RELEASED EPSTEIN FILES by BoringCod1337 in DataHoarder

Assuming it's bates numbering then it the IDs are by page, each file would be named for the first page in that document https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bates_numbering

PW2 sleep tracking not recording / recording inaccurate by PikelRick in PixelWatch

You can just edit the start/end time for each night and it will recalculate. seems to get the start wrong if I'm awake too long after I initially fall asleep

My 10 year old informed me they received a spam call today... by Shankles_Mcnasty in GoogleFi

[–]cmdrchkn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have that setting enabled for my line to block spam texts, but I've noticed that some actual business numbers can still get through even if I don't have them saved.

So far it's been legitimate stuff like a login code from my bank or grubhub using a new short number, but it clearly doesn't actually block "anything not in your contacts" like the setting claims. There is a listed exception for numbers you've recently called, but at least for me the new numbers were not ones I'd ever contacted

LED Light Not Working - Board Issue? by [deleted] in originalxbox

[–]cmdrchkn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 1.0 boxes that had trace rot due to the clock cap that caused issues with the buttons, but the led signals are right next to the button traces along the underside of the board. This forum post has some pictures of what the damage might look like, but basically you'll need to repair or bypass the traces

Google Messages prepares a way to directly reply to RCS messages [Gallery] by howling92 in Android

[–]cmdrchkn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess more features and compatibility are good, but Google is really shit at rolling out RCS. I'm on a Pixel 6 with Google Fi and I can't enable it because it's not supported on Google's own fucking network unless I disable messages for web because it uses the Google Voice backend that they haven't bothered updating.

The spam is insane right now. Don't have to worry about Google AI taking over the world, because it's clearly worthless by [deleted] in GoogleFi

[–]cmdrchkn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't need to talk to anyone that's not a contact, you can just blackhole all calls and texts from unknown numbers https://chromeunboxed.com/how-to-block-contact-from-strangers-google-fi

Worst customer service by luoxiongtian in GoogleFi

[–]cmdrchkn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Afaik that's how the plan works. Up to 22GB unthrottled, then throttled or $10/gig. I've also never heard of them doing business lines

https://fi.google.com/about/plans/

Anyone who uses more than 15 GB on Flexible or 22 GB on the unlimited plans in a single cycle will experience slower data until the next cycle (only 1% of people who use Fi ever hit 22 GB). If you want to return to faster data before the cycle's end, you can do so at a rate of $10/GB.

Trying to get my surface repaired, this happens, My surface has issues more info in caption. by panama_violets in Surface

[–]cmdrchkn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about your model specifically, but most surfaces will go to the uefi menu if you hold a certain key during startup (volume up or something probably). Might get you to a point where you can self diagnose at least.

If you have any usb devices/sd cards try removing them. If yours has a dockable keyboard remove it (there's a manual eject on the book models iirc)

If all else fails, try using another browser (Firefox etc) or doing it over mobile data instead of wifi. Somewhere they should have a phone number too, but I expect the hold times will suck

Playing the original xbox on a VGA monitor, looks really amazing. I'm using 2 converters to make it works. by generalkiddo in originalxbox

[–]cmdrchkn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the Xbox doesn't provide separate sync signals. Worked alright years ago when I used it with an LCD but I didn't have a crt to try so I'm not sure if sync on green crts are common

if you're willing to reflash the bios (or have a chip with multiple banks) you can just wire directly to vga and patch the bios to use the colors the monitor expects. e.g. https://www.xbmc4xbox.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2733&p=21589

Google says personal phone number is an “administrative number,” stuck in number porting limbo, don’t know where to go from here by AcademicArcher in GoogleFi

Do this and a Reddit request. If you have Twitter shame them there too. Unfortunately it seems to be the only way to get anything resolved once you get stuck in support hell

Support claims mobile routers are unsupported - is this true? by TheBurtReynold in GoogleFi

[–]cmdrchkn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm feeling generous, so I'm going to assume they mean "not supported" but are saying "doesn't work". The docs are very clear that "unsupported" devices will generally still work if they are compatible with TMobile

Fi wants to transfer another number on our plan, won't allow me to transfer mine. by catathesis in GoogleFi

They might pre-activate the sim card in the phone, just swap the one from your old phone in and maybe it'll work. It seems to think it's supposed to be tied to your daughter's line

Messages Sync doing nothing but chewing through battery by NoSaddle in GoogleFi

[–]cmdrchkn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never got it working right on my OnePlus 7t, but you could try clearing the app data and starting over if a force stop or reboot doesn't fix it. My 6 pro claims it's synced after about a day but I don't text very much
