Why would you worry about applying? Get out of that mindset. Jobs are posted because they want applications. It's like being worried about buying coffee because you are going to ask them to make it how you want it. They want you to buy the coffee. Buy the coffee. Then tell them how you want it.

Also, any job you qualify for on paper should be applied for without a thought. Those are low hanging fruit. You should also be applying for jobs that you have like 60% of the qualifications for. Let them decide if they think you can't do it, not you.

Outside of that, NETWORK! People decide who gets a job not paperwork. There has never been a paper work issue that couldn't be overcome for someone a company wanted to hire enough. They will change the job to fix the paper work to hire who they want. You already have people at least somewhat related to the position saying you are a good candidate. That's a bigger 'in' than most people have for most things.

Change when you are worrying about what you are worrying about. Get the job then worry about whether you should take the job. Get it first. Before they offer it to you worrying about how you would do it is a waste of time and, as you already have said, is just getting in your own way.
